The Fiio X5 Thread - Page 587

Rec'd my new X5 the other day. Really pleased with it but am a bit stuck with the following. I have a number of DVD's with Hi Res Audio On. ie. Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick". This is 48KHZ, 24 Bit. However I am unsure how to Rip the music from the DVD. I have tried Xilisoft's DVD Audio Ripper but I can only get 48Khx 16Bits. Any suggestions either as to how to get 24bit OR should I be looking at a different program??

Don't sweat it.  For playback - there is no need to have 24bit.  As long as the mastering is good, the only difference between 16bit and 24bit will be the noise floor, and for playback 24 bit is overkill.

Wow Awesome! I would love to get in on the modding, used to do a lot of it back in the Zen Vision M/W days.

DVD Audio Extractor worked well for me. 30 day free trial.

Looking forward to the 90 degree mod too!!!

(the reverse wheel mod seems to sometimes miss some of the options - due to large library I have to go to folder view, and some times it seems to take a couple of rotations [on screen] to get to that, sometimes it appears to get jumped over - hopefully there will be a tweak in this potential mod of CH23's to remedy this!)

What you're referring to sadly can't be fixed by me, as this has to do with the way the scrollwheel gets registered, or the scrollwheel hardware.

You can use the bottom 2 buttons to go through the menu too, so that might work for you.

It would be better for us folder users to have an option for the main menu to default to "folder", but I know that's one for Fiio and not the GUI modders. As it stands it is the furthest away by default and takes the most clicks to find which ever direction you go in.

I like the way your horizontal mode does away with the half icons.
