If you are looking for a portable rig have you considered some iems if you are happy with the 598 plus e12 for home use? I'm using the noble audio 4s and they sound incredible straight out of the x5 and are cheaper than the 650s biggrin.gif

The ipod Classic has had a monumental bug meaning it effectively doesn't have a functional multiband EQ the entire time I've been using them. Many years.

(It adds to the signal at a stage with no headroom; this is an incorrect method - one should subtract only, or first allocate some appropriate headroom as the X5 does in textbook fashion - and so on ipod Classic the EQ settings lead directly to audible digital clipping)

Apple, even though this EQ bug is acknowledged and fixed on ipod Touch, never fixed it on Classic and never will, even though it would take a coder about half an hour and they have billions of dollars to throw at it.

Presumably you are happier that the device remains broken, as it means you are not a 'beta tester'.

I probably should've renamed it to X5. Pretty sure confusion will happen :X

pe3ucTop, that is brilliant! The new missing album art placeholder is a huge improvement. And the green is quite funky.

Well done!

I just opened an 'enhancement' item in the bugzilla for GUI customization options (like skin color, background pictures and font size).

Here is the link:

An Australian site has just posted a bunch of X5 accessories, that will apparently be available for purchase from tomorrow.

What do you think? I'll be picking up the HS6 kit, however it is cheaper on eBay

It was pretty simple to figure out.  Thanks!  I haven't figured out changing the color of the UI yet, but I love being able to change the background pictures for "Now Playing" and "USB DAC" modes.  I think I'm happy with the font being used, but I may continue to tinker some anyway.  :)

Looks to me like their prices on most of the accessories are pretty high.  I ordered the HS9 leather case and the HS7 carry case (one from ebay.com and one from ebay.co.uk) and both were about half as expensive as they are there.

I'm still debating about getting the E12 to compliment my X5 - and I'm still looking for a good quality inter Connect cable in Germany (like the ALO brand) - although I see the HS6 stacking kit has a nice quality IC cable with it -

One question though - All the pictures of thestacking kit show the X5 bare bones - no silicon case over it.  So I guess the HS6 won't work with the delivered silicon protection case . . . ???

Thanks in advance -

So in other words, none of the cases are designed to work with the stacking kit?!?  i also like the leather case - but no part number on the website.

The stacking kit is a good idea - but they should have a well designed case foi it (together with the E12) - then they can promote the combination like they do with the E17+E09K  . . .

Cheers,

You are right, that is a missed opportunity for FiiO, but I wouldn't be surprised when a third party is going to hit the market with an adequate case very soon. Based on the number of X5+E12 users that is very likely to be expected. Don't hold your breath for it though. The leather case would be the FiiO HS9

The leather case FiiO HS9 is available at audiophonics.fr

Price € 9.90 which I think is very cheap for a genuine leather case
