Would applying this put the volume back without affecting sound quality?  I'm sure there must be a good reason why not, otherwise it would have been put forward earlier:D

Are the numbers for the volume in DB

OMG so much whining on this thread ROFL :veryevil:

Why wouldn't you just organize your music into neat folders and use folder browse mode?

Seems like the most logical / sensible thing to do. And there is no limit to how many songs if you're using browse mode.

The inability to shuffle 5800 songs is not a "deal breaker". You guys are so funny. In fact you can shuffle an unlimited number of songs, just put it into one folder and and use folder browse mode and use shuffle.

1/ Please fix ID3 tagging.  In this day and age, it does not make sense to be forced to use a folder view as the primary way of selecting music.    My music is all nicely tagged with Composer Name - Album Title, and I dont need to scroll up and down through several hundred albums or different memory cards to find a different version of the same symphony.    Nor do I want to be limited to 5800 songs.    With all due respect, this area has been a weak point of FiiO since the release of the X3, which i also own (along with an E12) - so despite my criticisms here, I HAVE supported your company with my wallet.

This has been an ongoing issue since the X3.

Fiio always gives the same reply that the Chinese users all "download" music off the web from mysterious sources, and never use ID3 tags. That's fine by me. They can pirate all they want. What I am not happy about is that this is just an excuse and not a solution.

A simple tree-diagram type tag based management has been employed and used for a decade now. Even the original iPod or the original memory stick Walkman could do better practical tag navigation than the X3/X5. I am concerned that Fiio cannot even provide what has already been in practice since the 1990's with the mediocre CPU and memory on devices back then.

The existing Chinese users can keep on using the folder based navigation. We are not trying to make them change to the tag based system. What we want is Fiio to realize that the tags are just as important, and people around the world who have a good collection of HD lossless audio files wishes for better tag support.

So this just happened...
Worked perfectly fine while it happened and all I needed to do was lock and unlock the screen.... but it sure was terrifying

i just wish these guys would create a way for me to play music from a folder... I had a cheap ole no name dap that did just that... I ask it to play music from a folder in the third lvl from the root n it did... fiio n hifiman dont allow play baser on file location they require files... sub folders n their parent folders cant b played together... n sadly not all of my music is tagged well. due to... the stupid amount of genre names therefore... i group genres by folder structure

Switching topics.... has anyone tried listening to a FLAC compression vs ALAC on the X5 of the same song to see which sounds better on this device?

They're both lossless. They should play sound exactly the same in every player.

I’m another one that has pre-ordered an x5, and am now learning about the 5800 file limit. While far from ideal, I’m not going to lose too much sleep if I have to browse my music in folder view to step around this issue.

What will be a big issue for me is if two separate memory cards do not show up as one volume when using folder view. I’ve got 2 x 128gb cards on their way, and do not want to have to constantly select which card I want to access depending on where the particular album I want to listen to is saved.

Is anyone able to shed some light on whether this is an issue?

You see two separate folders on the root, like TF card 1, TF card 2. You choose which card, and it will show all the folders within.

It's pretty straightforward and sensible.

That’s what I was afraid of.

So for those that have over 5800 files spread over 2 memory cards (surely I won’t be alone in doing this), there is no way to view all folders without having to switch between memory cards…

Is it possible to cancel a mp4nation pre-order?

The X5 does play from folders.

I have emailed them a couple times and they seem very nice, I would try calling/emailing and asking. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.

I received my X5 two days ago and I am surprised about its sound quality even better than my AK100. X5 sounds more organic, more dynamic, more musical with a wider sound stage and with the same level of details than AK100. X5 doesn't need extra amping whilst I use a CONTI V3 to humanize the sound of the AK.

By the way, I notify one big issue and I hope it can be corrected: X5 doesn't read 24Bits/88,2khz files. I tried two different albums and both have the same problem. For information, I've downloaded last firmware available on FIIO site. My files are FLAC or WMA Lossless.

I had the same thing happen. I took out the card, wiped it off and re-inserted it and it worked properly.

I don't know if the re-insertion or the cleaning fixed it.
