James

Hi James, is it true that HDPHNS.com will be having a couple of weeks delay because the production will be stopped for a couple of days?
They said that it was due to the firmware and hardware updates...

I don't want to wait longer frown.gif haha!

Thanks!

I heard of a bundle that includes the X5 and E12.

Does this mean that the internal amp of the X5 is much weaker than the E12?

I am sure the X5 is more than enough for IEMS, but what about some desktop phones like HD650's, AK701's, DT880's and such?

Cheers!

The x5 should be plenty by itself for most cans and all IEMs. I think it's mostly for those looking to drive hi end cans like lcd-3 or hd-800

It is not a listed item on their site any longer.

Hi,

James do FIIO plan to provide us a SDK ? I think that It could be interessing for everyone.

I didn't see if the X5 will support dynamic playlist (based on tags) in the future. Any info about that ?

Thx.

Sorry! I looked just after I posted and it was still there, but it is indeed gone now. Guessing they only got a few and sold them all. If you want it ASAP, maybe try calling BH Photo Video - someone said yesterday they expected to get some today, but not sure if they'd get more than just the # for preorders. Also could try calling Head-Direct.

I see on the Fiio website that the X5 has an output power of 460mW@16 Ohms and the E12 has 880mW@32 Ohms.

What do these numbers mean in practice?

Cheers!

That the E12 is a more powerful amp for harder to drive, lower impedance cans. What do you plan on using the X5 with?

Possible purchases in the near future: Fidelio X1, HD600, XBA H3, UE900

I would think the X5 should drive all those cans well. I would probably wait until some people start posting more impressions of the x5/e12 combo if I were you. I ordered the e12 to drive my audeze cans and I plan on posting impressions on this thread because I am curious too how much of an improvement there will be.

I'll be waiting before buying the E12 (or anything else), too, though it was tempting with the bundled deal from MP4 - I'm too much a noob to justify it. Coming from an iPod and E6 @ 150mW/16, I think I'll be more than pleased with the X5 on its own. It will be a while before I'll even be able to dream of a new pair of cans that might need anything more. For now, I'm staying shamelessly in love with my M50s.  Still curious how these S1s from MP4 will do for IEMs. The reviews are almost too good to be true. Like someone else posted, I am torn between opening them to play or selling them new and using it toward a different pair of IEMs (thinking the RE400s to upgrade my RE0s for work use). I think we all know which side will win that debate, though.

I already own an E12. I currently use it with the HP-P1.

My question is how is the X5 on it's own against an iBasse DX100 and how is the X5 with E12 against the DX100?... :)

Cheers!

Just received update from B&H.  Looks like maybe end of this week or even next week.  Salesperson stated that the vendor information they received was incorrect...oh well...

Anyhow, you can still pre-order at Adorama (adorama.com).  Very reliable and just as good as B&H...
