Keep in mind that one man's neutral is another man' warm. When I made the neutral comment I had the DX50 in mind, this guy bass is red hot so the X5 is rather neutral compare to it. Have I had a bass light player, then the X5 might have sounded warmer. Now one thing that can add to the sound signature, at least for me, it the burn-in time. I barely crossed the 40 hours burn-in and have already sensed that the bass got extended. That could also appear warmer.

By the same token report that this was a demo unit so it will be fair.

I'm not sure if mine was a demo unit or what not. Either way, I've noted plenty of things

Nothing too bad though

Where did you get the player from?

I'll make do with it. This will be noted in the review though.

I bet someone on the assembly line just forgot to drop some thread-lock in your unit. I tried to twist mine off (before I saw Joe's comment of breaking the screw, won't be doing that again! :p) but it only move a degree or two and won't go any further.

Yeah. I spoke with joe and arrived t that.

Does your mid button wiggle and jiggle like thr scroll wheel. After the mid button fell off. I could see how it operated. It was a "click" switch encased in a thin metal shroud. The metal shroud had prongs in the pcb but they wiggled a bit. That wiggling leads to wiggling in the button.

Does yours do that as well.

The button screw is really thin. Thankfully you stopped trying wink.gif

I read the reviews, but no one mentioned or talked about testing OTG! (please someone correct me if I am wrong)

I am an immigrant to NZ. Since I came here 19 yrs ago, I fell in love with this beautiful place. So welcome to NZ!

Anyway, I live in Christchurch and comparing to EU and America, it is like a "Hifi Desert" here. Fortunately, we have a Fiio authorized dealer here who absolutely loves Fiio products. He show me the X3 a couple of months ago, and told me it is absolutely fantastic and asked me whether I would like to order one. I told him I will come back in a few months for X5.......... And I am still waiting........

IIRC the function isn't ready yet. I think James mentioned March for OTG and DSD.

yes, now the OTG  can only supports very few U-disk so we still need time to make it compatible with more U-DISK.

yes, it will damage the X5 if some one try to disassemble the X5 from the play bottom. the correct way is disassemble the back cover first. but it is not easy. lol

Can't wait till X5 hits New Zealand and to have a listen myself............Damn! Waiting is hard!!!

Real pity you didn't get on the tour.  My time with the X5 is pretty much done, and I'll be sad to see it go - but will be sending it off to Auckland tomorrow :(

Funny thing is John - it's not a case of NZ being any more beautiful than anywhere else around the World.  Our advantage is that there is a lot of scenery in a very smallish country - and hardly any population so you get plenty of space :)

I can help with this one.  The iPhone4 is pretty much dead flat (which is why some people call it boring).  As far as neutrality goes - the iP4 would sit between the Studio V3 and X5.  With the V3 being neutral with a tinge of brightness, and the X5 being neutral with a tinge of warmth.
