Im trying to add a few more to the shootout. But they may just be proxy comparisons in the end if I cant personally get them. I wont name the units but other members of my review group have the "missing" DAPs.

Obviously iPod with various strap on amps (and by itself) will be included

Will it be done by words or video though?

I totally agree with a huge DAP shootout comparison. Include these;
FiiO X1/3/5
iBasso DX50/90/100
Hifiman HM-601/700/802
Colorfly C3/C4

Video unboxings of every product will be availble

Video review/ quick impression of comparisons will be done trough popular demand.

I cant get ALL those units lol. But I can certainly ask for guest writers to write proxy comparisons (obviously, not as good as if I had it)

It could be your home amp. Knowing the model and input impedance of the line in would help here, as well as the actual voltage of the line out of the X3. There's probably a simple explanation for what you're experiencing.

Wonder if manufacturers would get on board with review samples.......Nah probably not for fear of negative comparisons....

Early impressions of X5 seem really good...

Someone want to lend me $5k?

Funnily enough, I'd be up for it, because I'd also send them to Anakchan and Shigzeo, both of whom have different tastes to me. Whether or not I could borrow two or more DAPs at one time though is another matter. We're at the tail end of the X5 loaner program, so at least we'll cover that.

Can anyone (perhaps James or Joe) say what file system is supported on the X5, and will it support large (greater than 1GB) file sizes?

Well the X5 supports FAT32 or NTFS, the former of which supports up to 4GB file sizes. Don't know whether this is what the X5 itself supports though?

Exfat support would be a nice addition at some point.

Speaking of DSD support, it has been mentioned that it is planned to be supported by the time X5 is released internationally. I wish to gain an understanding of the supported file format (dsf, dff, iso), whether it is DSD64/128 or any PCM conversion will be done before playback (will this firmware be ported to X3 in the future??) ?

I understand this is probable the least important feature for portable use but just wish to give it a try when it is ready.

The X5 supports NTFS?  That's awesome!  Better than formatting 64GB microSD cards in FAT32 (which I had to do to use them in a competitor's player)...If that's the case, I am sold!

Cheers!:beerchug:

What, you mean you weren't already sold on the X5 before you found out about the NTFS compatibility?

Dayum! The X5 offers so much functionality for the price, and with decent SQ!      Some people want all that and a bag of chips!
