All I can say is connect your X3 via lineout to your reference home system and tell me you don't hear it. It is not as obvious through headphone out.

I'm a certified FiiO fanboy myself, and unfortunately I've founfd X3's performance to be deeply flawed.

The rubber case that comes with the X5 has flaps over the line out and coaxial out ports to prevent accidental insertion. wink.gif

IT has been stated that there will not be. The user will have to provide their own to use it as the X5 doesn't have internal storage.

I guess that's what makes the X3 an even better value product.

I use X3's line-out to portable amp all the time, and no, I don't hear any mid-bass hump. I do believe you might be mixing the thickness of the sound (quality) and the amount of SPL (quantity) together. If you were indeed referring to the warmth of X3, then yes, X3 is on the warm side. But it doesn't equal to a mid-bass hump.
