I foresee great things for Fiio, as a company, if they continue like this.

Anyone who's read this thread since it's beginning will know that I'm no 'Fanboy' for any DAP manufacturer, but truly - I have to take my hat off to James and his team - I literally cannot think of any other manufacturer that tries so hard to honestly give their customers what they ask for. I really admire that. To give iBasso their due, they do make a respectable effort, too, but right from the beginning, James has engaged with everyone in this thread (and I'm sure, others in China) and it is abundantly clear that he has walked-his-talk and implemented much of what has been discussed.

AND Fiio are not screwing customers for the privilege, either!

I take my hat off to you, James & team, and I suggest you take a bow!

I agree completely.

Well said and at reasonable prices. While unlike many, I don't consider high prices something to complain about (just don't buy it if the value equation doesn't fit your sensibilities) , it's still great when more folks can be exposed to this sort of specialized quality. Bodes well for the future of better formats. I also appreciate that while offering much and listening, FiiO still didn't try to give everybody everything and over compromise the product in the process. There's still choices to be made which means it can't be perfect for everyone but should be pretty close for anyone. I also think they have done a great job of it on paper.

Hello everyone! Hello James and everybody from the FiiO team:) Happy New Year!

I have a question, which is addressed primarily to James and FiiO team (but if anyone esle can answer it, it'd be great): in the X5 specifications posted on FiiO off site there is an info about X5's support of DSD playback. Could you please tell, what kind of playback is implemented: is it a native DSD playback without any DSD->PCM conversion (the dsd stream is fed directly to DAC and decoded-PLEASE, PLEASE tell me it is so:-) or is it a DSD playback with DSD->PCM conversion? Also it's interesting to know whether X5 supports .diff and .dsf files playback in DAP mode only or DoP (DSD over PCM) via USB in DAC mode also. Thank you

To my knowledge, nobody knows if it is a native playback or conversion. The previous daps used conversion method always so it wouldn't surprise me if it was conversion. I am hoping James/Joe can give you a clear answer.

Also, I am still hoping maybe they can give the exact numbers of output power of the X5? I am still waiting for their answer.
