The Fiio X5 Thread
Apr 26, 2015 at 10:02 AM Post #17,281 of 19,652
I myself, is quite a HiFi nerd audiophil, but reading all the long post´s just mentioned in this thread is too much. Of course, it´s up to everyone to talk about what they want and in their knowledge. And for those who are´nt interested, can just move on in the threads

But the problems start when the thread list grow too large, as Brooko stated. The problem being bigger when people use to quote every post, specially when they soo long. So when a post quote another post, that will then be quoted, the thread list grow remarkably.

Now, has anyone tried using exFat with X5, as it´s now works with FW 2.5? If so, does it have any upsides with X5 vs Fat32?

Dose anyone use amplifier on x5?
If yes then which one do you have?
Or, which one do you recommend?
Thanks

I use an ProJect Headbox MKII, modded for used with batteries, an Alps RK27 volume control, aluminum chassi and a THS4032 opAmp, and In intend to replace some of the resistors with Holco H4P & caps replaced with Elna Silmic II. This drive my Sennh. HD650 or AKG K702 headphones really nice!

Went to Cambridge UK Head-fi meet today, armed with X5 and tried as many new Headphones, amps and DACs as time would allow.

Not good for my wallet, but my Fiio currently sounding amazing as I type this. 15% show discount helped, its now paired with the Hugo. Didn't think portable audio could sound this good. Playing through £100 Musical Fidelity headphones at moment and even they sound great.

You've already been quoted in the Hugo thread as the guy who went to Cambridge to get a discount on Senn HD800 and came back with a Hugo...
Welcome to the X5 - Hugo owners club along with @Duncan and @JaZZ - They both have Shure SE846s too...

There is also the Hugo portable thread which is more relevant to us X5 owners

On page 3 of both! Caught me unawares, haven't followed any Hugo threads. Unlike me to not research all pages here first. But my ears told me, my X5 and Hugo was matching some very expensive and exotic gear at the meet, so I acted spontaneously for once.

I think it was @x RELIC x who mentioned that unique value for money point when he was considering the JH Angies. It applies to the X5 and the Hugo (sadly not the Angies in the UK). You probably have the ultimate value for money portable system currently available here - X5 - Hugo - 846

It's true.  I played identical tunes from the computer(USB) and the X5(coax) to the Hugo and I thought the X5 sounded a little better.  Slitely clearer bass without losing the treble in the 846s.

Yes, that's my take on most audio gear. Best for the money, but I always set my value limit! I'm strongly considering the Hugo as I keep reading there really isn't anything comparable, and I like not being forced to being plugged in. Was looking in to the AK240 but I simply can not go there. Also looking at the Cavalli Liquid Carbon (seems like an insane amp for the price, but not fully portable). The X5 would be the transport for either of these.

Edit: By the way I paid $967 US ($1189 CAD) for my pair of Angie. Better value than SE846 for me by over a hundred dollars.

x RELIC x oh man I just looked at the close up pics taken by Brooko of the Luxury & Precision LP5. You ought to contact L&P to convince them and doing some consultancy work for their GUI. It begs for an Analog modding. You could accept one unit as payment or something, it would solve your Angie pairing quest too haha :D
