I'm not sure if it's my files, but for some of my tracks, at very low frequencies there's some distortion. At first I was paranoid it might be my headphones but then I switched to my CIEM's and experienced the same thing. Does anyone else experience this?

Nope.  Easy way to see if its the X5.  Play the same tracks on a different player.  What I've found is that the X5 is a pretty transparent window. It'll simply play what you give it.

I have an x1 but would x5 be better in sq against x1 paired in e12a?

Better DAC section - so IMO yes the X5 would be superior.

I own both the X5 and X1 - not the E12A though.

If you're on a budget - look into the X3 2nd Generation.

I am thinking if I am just going to sell my x1 and get an x5 or just get a e12a to improve the x1. Will be using it with an ie800. Im on a tight budget now but still can afford an x5. Just wanted to know expert opinions from the community.

Cant wait that long for the 2nd gen x3.

As fas as SQ goes, Fiios range really does follow price progression - X1 < X3ii < X5.

But on overall value for money, I'd position the X3ii a bit ahead of the current X5.  IMO it is absolutely worth waiting for.  You have an X1 now anyway - why not wait?  It's not like you need an amp for the IE800.

But if you want best EQ - and you won't need an amp - then X5 definitely.

Isn't the X3 II's EQ the same as the X5's? (Apart from the fact that it doesn't work through line and digital out.)

Yeah, I am not an amp guy but i'd like to explore what more can I get from the ie800 given the budget that I have. No plans of going to AK daps route. Way too out of reach for me atm.

The AK line may be slightly better but the X5 really is a contender. Very good sounding piece of gear regardless of price. The price makes it truly remarkable.

So in what way does it differ from the X5's?

There's supposed to be the X5 2nd gen coming in the next few months if you can wait.

On another note, can someone reccomend a 5V/2A power supply?  Couldn't find one on Amazon.
