The Fiio X5 Thread - Page 107

What is the feature that you want most from Fiio X5's successor?

That's easy. I would definitely want a replaceable battery. And I'm no eco-nut, I just care that it is such a waste of money that I cannot replace the battery on my X3 when one day it no longer is able to power itself for more than a few minutes. And when the player is still working excellently - why should I have to throw it away just because of  a manufacturer's lust for money? :/

I am tired of manufacturers who think it's 'ok' to make expensive portable electronic products whose lifetime is solely dictated by the usefulness of their OEM batteries. What surprises me most, is just why so many of we consumers don't seem to mind that we'll be throwing away our fiio x3 one day - when it will no longer be able to hold its battery charge! Please people - demand that batteries be replaceable! Because that is the solution - and one which could so easily be implemented: either allow the use of (1) replaceable OEM batteries or better still (2) non OEM replaceable batteries. Thank you.

So no one else is bothered by the control wheel sticking out hugely? It would be annoying in my pocket and cheap to look at, it really bother me :/

I don't think it sticks out that much at all. You need to wait until it comes out before you go on a three state killing spree.:normal_smile : My concern is that it looks like Apple helped fiio out here. Not good.

I only care whether this will sound as good as the 901... The look is more than okay i guess..10 hours of playing those Linn super audio compilations in 24/96 flac using Parterre is my wet dream...

Get iBasso DX50 then. it has replaceable batteries. but This is X5 thread so only thing I could say, soldering on another battery isn't really that difficult :)

No one has comment on the nice layout of buttons and ports. Judging by the photos, dual TF/microSD cards and microUSB port on the bottom, and all plugs connectors on the top.

Lovely layout in my opinion

Cheers

we used replaceable battery in our E11, but we will change to build in battery in the new E11 ( E11K), replaceable battery needs more space and we want to control the size to a reasonable dimmension.

When do we expect E11K to consumers? street price?

it is my hand and I am not a tall guy. and you can see I have not problem hold it on my hand. also it is small than my Galaxy Note if you take some time to compare the size.

X3 and X5 has socketed Li-ion battery that can be replaced without any soldering skill. Obviously you still need to get the battery first but FiiO should be able to help on that.

Remember, while using smartphone battery might be easier for battery replacement in the future, you do take a hit on battery capacity immediately because you can't fit as big a battery inside as you wish. Judging from the picture, X5 battery will be 3700mAh, which is 76% bigger than the S3 battery used in DX50 and 42% bigger than the S4 battery. Taking X3 for an example, using S3 battery instead of the stock 3000mAh battery will mean a 30% drop in battery life, from 10~14hrs down to 7~10hrs.

hmmm, didn't know that :|

I agree with you - replacing batteries isn't that hard, getting them from a manufacturer like fiio won't be a problem either. not to mention the advantages of integrated designs.

All this battery swappability/replaceability/non-replaceability/capacity/pros/cons was discussed months ago, in the early pages of this thread,

the trend is more and more smartphone follow Apple used build in battery but not replaceable battery, of course, some brands will like to provide DAPs with replaceable battery, so, you need to choose but you can't get both.

I'd just like to thank JamesFiiO for participating in a thread like this. There will be lots of odd posts and projections to address. Nice to keep us in the loop. I remember when the 1st X3 (if that's what it was was called) thread started and it was put on hold. That you would continue to participate in preproduction threads is commendable. I hope you do have something before years end so we don't need to see that naked bottom.
