The Fiio X5 Thread - Page 90

I'm thinking the PCM1792 will be a great DAC.

Sony is using the PCM1795 in their forthcoming PHA-2 DAC/Amp.

Notice that the X5's PCM1792 actually has better sonic specs, albeit without 32-bit capability (big deal).

While I am interested in the X5, I am getting an X3 for now.  I do hope that the X5 will be able to act as a DAC only ala my E07K with the LOD.  For me, this would make the X5 a truly versatile and useful device to carry around.  Other than that, for me, storage and dual slots etc. is not as important as absolute sound quality in a £300ish DAP.

I await the final specs and first full reviews with interest.

yes, PCM1792 is the best DAC chip from TI since they stop the production of PCM1704. and we will give up WM8740 in the future cause now there are too many DAC/DAP used WM8740 , and we are the biggest buyer in China of WM8740.

I'm looking forward to the X5 - for its transport to Line Out!

PCM1792 was a fantastic choice James. I know the 1704 had a huge following and was inside many highly regarded DACs. I think the only way I could have been happier is if you went with the ESS9018, but I'm sure the 1792 rivals it. Please pay attention to your jitter numbers if you have time to lower them. Looking forward to the X5!

I like to see ES9018M (not to be confused with the non-M version) makes it to a future device. Perhaps as X3 successor.

yes, maybe dual ES9018M in our X7.  :o2smile: . OK, it is just a joke. we have not decided anything yet cause we are busy in the firmware updating of X3 and the development of X5.

Well Fiio do have an excellent looking and sounding cable that I'm using with my jh13 fp....

we have meet problem in the production of RC-SE1/UE2/WT1 because one worker can make 20 pcs cable per day. so maybe in future when we figure out how to improve it.

I heard they're microphonic? Is this not true?

The cable itself is microphonic but not really a problem for me in actual usage when worn over the ear.

What a great idea :-)  Make a dual DAC x7, and I am definitely in :-)
