The Fiio X5 Thread - Page 679

Having the X5 for several weeks I still enjoy every minute listening to it and could scream from the highest rooftops to recommend the X5

The number of people to chime in with card problems however increase every day. It would be nice to have a FAQ or separate threat to refer to for those suffering from that instead of keep posting here over and over again. In that case all info is gathered in one place and not fragmented like here.

Don't get me wrong here as I do feel sorry for them and I would like help in that case as well but it feels like micro card-posts are poluting this vivid thread I used to like for its constructiveness. I know that James and Joe are busy with X3 FW, but honestly I don't blame them for not posting here..... (yeah, shoot me!)

The 3 main card problems are:
-not or badly formatted
-fake cards
-corrupt files (Or unreadable on the X5)

The other problem is people not understanding that clicking "search this thread" is a function to help you search this thread.

@CH23 You are right. But it seems to me that we are in a loop here. I don't mind reading negative feedback on this threat (and I'm not a FiiO fanboy) but card issues should be addressed explicitly in the first post.

I can imagine that people who would consider buying a X5 would think twice if they are 'scanning' last weeks posts. In most cases it is not the X5 performance to blame and I think people new on this thread should take notice before leaving negative feedback.

 Try this

1. Remove both cards.

2. Power it down then power it up.

3. If it loads. Do a factory reset.

4. After factory reset, Power it down and reinsert the cards

5. Power it back up again.

I think it might be possible that the Fiio might be looking for the OS on 1 of the micro sd. Which would cause the device to get stuck on the welcome screen. I am no programmer but I have worked in IT for over 10 years.

Alright I'll give this a try. Don't know why it tries to search for the fw file though.

THIS. Experienced it myself with X5 just out of the box. Discovered it was a rogue m4a file downloaded from the web.

What were the problems caused by that m4a file?

I did as per blackwolf1006 suggestions. It booted up fine. Will test it out a little more. Thanks!!

I don't know, i just converted it to mp3 and now X5 recognises it. To me, tags and embed art looked fine!

Actually I couldn't pay for it. It was an edit of Daft Punk exhibition at grammys with Stevie Wonder and Nile Rodgers. The guy who did it took the leaked multitracks from both rehearsals and actual exhibition and combined them in one hell of a track. During the live broadcast they had mics problems and couldn't hear most of Steve part, so the guy did a wonderful job editing them! Still X5 didn't like the m4a file :D

I did this a few weeks ago with all of my losless files:

Convert from FLAC to wave and back to FLAC if there were any possible errors, they're gone now.

It's getting stuck at the welcome screen again. This is so weird. It works fine if I just eject and reinsert my microsd but I'd rather not have to do this every time I boot up my x5. I should try reflashing the fw.

Try this with 1 card. Then the 2nd if it works.

1. back up your data.

2. Format the card with the FiiO X5. (settings > format > card number)

3. Copy the data to the card (with a card reader or via the USB cable).

Reflashed fw still having this problem. Seems like each time I reinsert my microsd it boots up fine the first time. After that I would have to remove and reinsert (whether powered on or off) for it to read it. I already formatted my cards using the x5 and still have this problem (both cards).

I knew the x5 was buggy but I didn't expect it to have such a basic bug. I wonder if James sees this. Should I contact for a replacement unit or does anyone have a solution I could try?

One thing I know for a fact. Once the card has been formatted with the X5, I never had any issues afterwards that I flash the player or not. Unless you can positively eliminate your cards as being the issue, your only alternative is to return the player.

The way you described your problem, that's not sounding like a bug.

X5 Motorcycle Hack:

Step 1 - Cut two holes in back of silicone case
Step 2 - Insert watch band
Step 3 - Profit
