The Fiio X5 Thread - Page 674

I've just upgraded from an X3 (which I love) to an X5 and am absolutely astounded. Wonderful clarity, excellent soundstage, perfect balance of sound without me needing to touch the EQ and is just flawless in its sound reproduction with every type of music I have thrown at it.

I'm currently listening with my B&W P5's plugged into it and it is glorious, but it is equally at home with Cosmic Ears HY3 and UE900's.

So glad I invested in this DAP. Congratulations to all at Fiio for this player, you have done a wonderful job and I don't imagine me doing any better than this without spending three times the price.

For those that play lossless and/or hi-rez music that are still sitting on the fence about this DAP, then just buy one. Your ears will thank you for it :beerchug:

Have a nice day!

I have a large music collection which is why I wanted a portable hard drive connected at all times if its possible. If not, I'm not worried and it's not that serious. Just a question.

I'm sure this has been covered - and I actually have read all the pages in this thread! - but can someone tell me if the volume buttons are always "on"?  Meaning, if all I ever do with this player is set it to shuffle and then adjust the volume on a per track basis, I'll never need to fiddle with the sleep/wake issue?  The screen can be asleep, volume buttons are still awake?

^^ Yup, volume buttons work when screen is off with one caveat.. if you press and hold, it skips track forward or back so to adjust the volume, lots of short taps. Not sure if I like this as there is Lockscreen 1 & 2 mode.  Volume works the same in either.

Of course, volume buttons are always accessible even on sleep/lock state, just like your smartphone. I think all DAPs are like that.

As said, depends on the chipset of the enclosure (lucky lottery) - I have had a 128GB SanDisk SSD work with no problem smily_headphones1.gif

Just got my X5. Is it possible to get it to display embedded lyrics? It'll be a pain if I have to start making separate lrc files for every song..

Only external lyrics: http://www.head-fi.org/t/717873/reference-table-for-album-art-tagging-and-lyrics-support-on-the-x5.

The manual states only external .lrc files are supported, not embedded. (Pg.21/23)

I had the same kind of plan here... I can tell you external hard drives (whether powered or not) are not supported via OTG unfortunately (and I did try 3 of mine before taking FiiO's word for it).

Ah..I didn't go through the manual as I should have.

Anyone knows a way/program to download lrc files in batch?

Also looking for ideas on how to better organize my music files. I used to organize them by albums and then I have plenty of songs which I did not rip the entire album but only selected some on a separate folder. Now that the folder which I have those selected songs grown quite large, its difficult for me to scroll through to some songs that I want to listen to. Going by genre/artists doesn't help much either due to the long list I would have to scroll through. If anyone has a more organized way of doing this do share :)

Today the X5 stopped charging. I had to jiggle the USB connector a little then it started to charge. The cable (Cellphone Micro USB) I was using was NOT the one they provided. Is it really that picky

It's not that it's picky it's just that It does not tolerate crappy cables. wink.gif

On another note, you know your player is alright when they only worry you have is to pick tunes to play.

What's the cheapest place to get one of these from, or is it the same everywhere?

The $349.99 MSRP is pretty standard everywhere. Don't pay more than that, but it'll be rare to find it for less, outside of any promotions various retailers may run.

I've seen it for less from non-retail buying services, but those are a riskier proposition.
