Thanks for the heads up on this. I almost went & bought a new USB thumb drive today to connect using the OTG cable.

TF1 & 2 cards will be high-res files, & OTG will be used for MP3s to maximize my listening options.

At $12 that is a steal. I ordered 2 of them.

Does the Category > Album mode list tracks according to the Track No. tag?  I asked this earlier following a post from someone who indicated this may not be the case, but no-one's responded yet.  And is the Track Title pulled from the filename or the Track Title tag?

Looking good Relic smily_headphones1.gif

I'm staggered by the sound quality potentially available from the X5/E12 for the (relative) pocket money price the units sell for - This past 36hrs have really opened up my eyes (well, ears)...

Makes me genuinely wonder what the big-boy players (AK240 etc.) can pull out of the bag!

I've also lost a lot of sleep to the X5 haha. I'm very surprised by the amount of detail and clarity when paired with the XC - utterly blown away that this makes a good pairing considering Audeze's typical need for more power. Not saying that the XC won't scale with a more powerful source, just saying that for the convenience of not being tied to my listening station the sound is great.

I was drooling over the AK players when they were first released because of the reported clarity and smoothness, but for me with the X5 the extra cost for the AK's is not worth it. If circumstances arise where I come in to some serious disposable cash I'd consider the AK240 for the balanced output and cool looks (I love me some carbon fiber).

That's awesome. I kinda envy you for the headphones. My headphone/earphone gear is still pretty much entry level - I have Shure SRH840 and Meelectronics M6. I just ordered HiFiMan Re-400 as well. :) I wonder if the X5 would shine even more with more advanced headphones. I might take it to the Headphonebar and take a listen with some of their testing units.

I've been finding the X5/E12 combo to drive my LCD-3's pretty well. I can only imagine they would be even better with the LCD-X or LCD-XC since both are more efficient than the LCD-3

Can I ask a stupid question - the battery meter just isn't changing at all (full), and I've been using this for most of the day... Is it suddenly going to drop like a stone, down to flat? (I think I saw someone mention this) or, is FW2.0 just much better on battery life than reported?

Don't want to get caught short without the music that i'm getting oh so addicted to smily_headphones1.gif

I was wondering this as well, I updated a few days ago and havent charged since, still showing 3 bars I think, I wonder if the battery life is now better with FW 2.0?

I loved the SRH-840 until my head band broke. Great cans.
RIP (Click to show)

I can tell you that the X5 really does shine with more advanced headphones and allows you to hear, very clearly, the different sound signatures of each headphone. That's what I love about the X5.

I'm sure Travis at HeadphoneBar would be more than happy to let you spend as long as you want testing different headphones. It really is the best idea for you to take you own source with with you.

If you are using the line out the battery will last much longer (2x?) given the X5 isn't using the amp section. I do find that once the battery shows 2 bars it's a crap shoot on the remaining time.
