What if they make the top bar partially transparent, like the song info window at the bottom currently is -- at least while a song is playing -- and use the whole screen for album art?

My one complaint regarding album art (barely) is that a lot of text won't show up on top of it depending on the artwork... any chance we could do white text with a black border for song titles and artist names that show up on top of album art? Or even a transparent black box behind the text?

In my experience, this seems to affect all album art :X

Given the X5's slightly rectangular screen, I recommend having a slightly smaller album art to the left, with the song info and lyrics to the right like how many other DAPs (e.g. iBasso DX50) have done.

...or just give us an option to change the "Now Playing" screen like how we can change the "Lockscreen" modes (e.g. RockBoxed Clip Zip; you will need to know how to modify the WPS file though) :D

Looks like this (no idea what this music is though)

Oooh I do like that!

In a line you press right/down to move the selector to the right/bottom and the options to the left/top of it.

On an ipod, clockwise moves the selector down and the options up.

All the same here.

An option might be good for those thrown but it really would defy any existing convention to reverse it

A circle is not a line (by definition, they're two mutually exclusive geometric shapes). And if you break a circle, it can become a line that goes in either direction. If I split it at the "top" of the circle, I can pull my two halves in either direction. So you're not correct in that assumption.

although your assertion that you're moving the selector, and not the options, does make sense. But if you present a shape, and then replicate that shape with a controller, I think it's intuitive that moving the controller in direction X would cause its analog to move in that same direction. It's a moot point, because it took me around a minute to be used to it.

It arrived with FW1.20 installed is it worth upgrading yet or should I wait for version 2 to be released. Also can anyone advise on the best FLAC settings when ripping Cds it all a bit new to me most likely going to use EAC for the mo.

Thanks for Any advice in advance.

Hi mate! Yes, I suggest you to update to 1.23beta to have fixed FLAC gapless playing and some other improvements. To rip cds in WAV I use EAC (Exact audio copy) and then i proceeed to convert them in the desired format (mp3 or FLAC) using dbpoweramp. Or you can rip the cd directly with dbpoweamp :) Then I tag them with tag&rename (highly recommended). Enjoy!

If icons move in a UI it is always in the opposite direction to that pressed so that the selector moves in the pressed direction. You are asking to control the icons rather than the pointer, which is unprecedented.

I expect even those asking for it reversed would find the same within 5 seconds of trying to use it.

+1.   James/Joe - something to consider, perhaps?    Given that we are all used to various touchscreen and other devices, it is nice to have a UI that is consistent with other devices, and also consistent within the device as well.

Am I reading this wrong? I think he is saying that the scrolling direction is exactly how it should be, and that those who want it reversed would find themselves wanting to go back (just like how every other UI works in this fashion)

(my card is named X5 TF1 so I would type in terminal "dot_clean /Volumes/X5\ TF1" and then I'm all set!)

I used it on the entire volume and it gets rid of all those dupe files!

I delete files on the device from the console only, to avoid the creation of a .thrash folder. Opening the volumes in Finder and operating the files that way on a Mac creates these annoying dotted files for you, which are normally hidden on Mac/Linux.

Yup I just had to delete those stupid hidden files, too.

sudo rm -rf /Volumes/X5\ TF1/.Trashes

along with the other hidden folders.

Nice and clean now :)

Thanks for the tip on deleting from terminal only - I will do that from now on!

Question: Is there a way to make it so when you hit the next/previous button the screen comes back on to show you what song it is, or if you want to keep hitting next to scroll through the album?

P.S. is that a homemade IC cable? I am looking to purchase something similar for my X5/E12 as well.

There is no way to fast forward while in lock screen either? smh

Just a quick note for any guys based in the UK, I would highly recommend hifi headphones, I ordered Saturday afternoon and I'm now sat listening to my x5 with a free lollipop they stuck in the box! Pretty good customer service and quick delivery.

On another note has anyone found a way to get back to the album folder after backing out to tweek the eq? Returning to note playing won't let me back into the album folder just the curvy track off that makes sense? Slightly irritating.

On the plus side I'm now rethinking the plan to sell my momentums!

Wow predictive text went crazy.

Now playing and current track is what I meant.

Hi, I was just wondering about this player and the X3 and other players out there,  I want to use the OTG feature with my 2TB portable drive, If I understand it right it wont work without the drive being powered ?  how would I go about powering the drive in that case if the connections will already be plugged into the player ?  A splitter ?

Quick question guys, this may make me look like a total n00b but whatever:

I have DT 770 250ohms. The X5 drives them just fine, but I like the sound of the E12 with X5 better.. especially that bass boost on E12!

I've been playing with the EQ settings on the X5 trying to replicate that good bass boost but I can't really get it to sound as good as the E12 combo. Is that a fruitless effort?

Is there anything else at play here making it sound better?

I love the whole X5/E12 bundle and can't wait for that bundle kit, but if I am carrying around an E12 for no reason please let me know :)
