Fiio X5 Thread - info updated on Jan 17th 2014 - Page 396

hello, I have just received my x5 and am very pleased with it, but can anyone tell me how to play all albums in a folder continuously. At the moment after listening to one album I have to take

the player out of my pocket and select the next one, unlike my j3 that plays all albums in the folder automatically. I must say that this is the first player that I have owned that plays

perfectly on the players normal equalizer setting without having to change any value normally players sound flat and dull on this setting.

I just got mine yesterday and I am very pleased with it. Stayed up until 3 am last night testing it :D Works great, sounds great... Even tested it as a USB DAC. My first impression is that holds up pretty well against my current dedicated DAC/AMP HRT HeadStreamer. :)

and speaking about hitting the gym... Does anybody have any idea about a sports/gym armband that would fit the X5?

It doesn't work perfectly though...if you navigate too quick or change the volume it stucks for a second and it takes 3 seconds to play the music when you change the folder/artist. Everythings fine with my samsung class 10 microsd.

US comrades B&H re-open for pre-orders, they sent me an email saying that they are taking pre-orders.

I think you and I will be very disappointed in the interface coming from a J3.

I do that all the time on my J3. Another thing that I think we have to give up is the fact that the J3 can play every song on the player and create dynamic playlists on the fly all the while going into every album that the current song is playing from. So if I am listening to Track #3 from shuffle I can listen to Track #7 all the while staying in shuffle.

I shot them an email this morning to officially cement my status in the Customer Service team as "...that guy..." Maybe the fact that they are taking preorders again means I might get a date :).

Am I being an impatient pain in the arse? More than likely...

It is possible with the x5 though, there are at least 3 ways to manage it using the centre button to show a menu containing 'play now' 'play next'(dynamic playlist), favour the song, eq, information about the track, list goes on...

OK, did some research from all.  I'll get a SanDisk 64GB microSDXC Memory Card Ultra Class 10 UHS-I with microSD Adapter for $46.95 from B&H to get the party started.

hello, I have found an excellent way to use this in the gym. There is a case with belt clip that fits this player sold by i-shine it is

very cheap at £5. I will adapt this case to use the buttons on the player and put velcro to fasten the lid. I have already used this in

the gym i just used a rubber band to hold the lid down temporarily and it works fine.If anyone knows how to play all albums in a folder

without having to select each album as I like to just keep my player in my pocket without having to take it out  while i'm running.

76g (J3) vs 195g (X5) makes a heck of a difference in a shirt pocket.

I pre-ordered from B&H on 2/27.  I sent them an e-mail last night and just got this reply:

Thank you for your order and for contacting the Customer Service Department at B&H Photo Video and Pro Audio.

Unfortunately we don't have an expected delivery date yet for your backorder as it is backordered by the manufacturer. As soon as we receive it in stock we will promptly ship it to you. Once the order has been shipped we will notify you via e-mail. I apologize for this delay and any inconvenience it has caused you.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

As you admit, you "foolishly assumed that this meant [B&H was] going to be receiving the X5s first."  There was no basis for that assumption and, had you spoken with a B&H sales rep, he would, no doubt, explained to you that delivery dates for back-ordered products are never definite.  This is true for every retailer.  This was your mistake, not anything deceptive on B&H's part.
Thank you.

a) Fiio says (said?) that the X5 supports gapless playback.

b) Just because you don't listen to albums that require gapless playback doesn't mean no one else does.

I listen, almost exclusively, to jazz and Broadway musicals (and my own work), all of which require gapless playback.  I will be very, very disappointed if my X5 doesn't support this and, frankly, wouldn't have bought it if I knew it was a problem.

I will be very surprise to see a generic manufacturer is able to beat Sandisk at its own games, consider Sandisk is only able to produce it just a few weeks ago. Also, because of the large capacity, microSD of this size must be SDXC since SDHC can't access anything beyond 32GB due to hardware limitation imposed by the SDHC standard. The fact that someone claiming 128GB card as SDHC is really questionable in itself.

Like addsfeds has suggested, uses H2Testw for a comprehensive read/write test just to be sure. I have dealt with fake SD card before and they can look and function like a normal card at first without proper testing. But under H2Testw, you get to see each and every memory sector inside the SD card and you can be sure you are getting what you have paid for. Great if it is indeed a 128GB, but if it is fake, you get a chance to claim back the money you spent via eBay / Paypal.

I'm running H2Testw now on both cards.  I'll report back with the results (which, it appears, will take 6 to 8 hours).
