Also, I suggest the combination of Everything and Bulk Rename Utility (Everything to search for all such jpg files; BRU to rename them at one go) if you really have to change all that filenames :) I cannot find any Mac/Linux alternatives unfortunately; maybe someone here can help with that? :o

Sorry, should have quoted you too since you asked about this too...

Thanks for your help!  ;)

Hopefully the FiiO support team can give confirmation on this issue.

No prob, I will love to see this being resolved too considering that this is another problem I will be writing about in my review (thankfully it does not affect the SQ or general performance but still...)

Sidenote: I think the way the album art is shown is kinda iffy too. I don't like to see the cover art being covered by those text and that grey bottom bar.

Have you tried 'folder.jpg' / 'front.jpg' and even %.pdf ? I assume people downloading from HDTracks automatically have their cover art filed like that, so they would have the same problem - I know it doesn't affect SQ and it is sort of a minor issue but a fix would be nice though ......

Thank you for your information @Darkarn.

In that case it seems I have to change all cover art from cover.jpg into %albumtitle%.jpg  *sigh* . My current default is cover.jpg in every album folder - it then displays that same cover for each track in that folder - because that is the workaround for a Synology NAS to display cover art. Having thousands of albums this will take a lot of time!

@JamesFiiO or @Joebloggs :

will there be a workaround for this in later FW? I really hope cover.jpg will be supported as well as it is a very common way to file cover art

Ah yes, it should be %songtitle%.jpg, not %albumtitle%.jpg. Or to put it another way, the name of the jpg file should match the name of the audio file you are playing and both of them should be in the same folder.

I did not try those naming conventions, can someone here help with this? :(

James thank you for this information. I've been having an awful 2 weeks (brand new car was totaled, parked outside my apt, and is taking forever to resolve, I am pretty screwed... very very long story) - but this news is really great, thank God.. I was expecting it in 1-2 months to be honest.

Oh... wait... never mind. I misread that. It's going to TekFX only. Any idea when HeadRoom will get some in stock? That's where I preordered..

wait a minute so if an album has 20 songs I would need 20 jpgs (one for each song) just to get a cover art!!!???

Have you tested? @darkarn just said above that it has to be songtitle.jpg to display, via his/her tests. Rough if that's true, glad album artwork doesn't mean a whole ton to me. All mine are cover.jpg. Maybe latest firmware will be better, I haven't read all the updates.

Hi James...any idea when B&H in the US will get theirs? Is there a schedule we can see at all (if you are able to share it, I would hate to put you in an awkward position, sharing information that is still subject to change).

about the cover, here is our plan in the future . from http://www.head-fi.org/t/707751/official-plans-for-firmware-updates-for-the-x5-after-version-1-10

21. Support for more external album cover files.

which may includes cover.jpg cover.gif or folder.jpg, folder.gif

sorry, B&H is not our agents but reseller so I can't reply your question .  and we can just know the schedule of today because it depended on how many we produced and how many order should we delivery .
