That's a big reason why I'll get the x5 although I do want the ak120 as well but the x5 is being released soon so I'll have to wait I think.

Yes it does, but not so good unfortunately (especially on 1.10 and 1.15 Beta); the X5 is not fully charged even after a night's worth of charging and using it as an USB DAC at the same time :(

Dang, that sucks, maybe your rockin too hard?? Is it actually getting the 12-15 hours battery time they advertise when in use though?

On 1.00, yes, there is no issue. Not on 1.10 and 1.15 though :(

oh. so with v1.10 and v1.15, the battery usage is lower?

Able to handle at least 10 hours?

I haven't tested w/1.15, but with 1.10 easily gets 10h (and I thought it was actually more since I don't listen continuous for a long time).  I have no doubts they will optimize firmware to improve it further.

Regarding battery, the capacity is 3700 mAh.  If you are charging from computer port which typically sources less than 500 mA (typically its between 400-450 mA), it will take you over 8hr to fully charge the battery if you don't use X5.  Now, if you are using X5 as USB DAC you are charging and draining the battery at the same time, so it WILL take a lot longer to fully charge it that way.  It's no different if you are using your smartphone while driving with NAV on, bluetooth connected, screen on, and streaming Pandora in the background where even from your 2A car charger you might get onliy 10% battery bump after 2hr of driving ;)

For a fast charge of X5, use 2A wall usb charger.  When connected to computer/laptop as USB DAC, you can use it continuously without draining your X5 battery and instead the battery will be charging up but at a slow rate.

Thanks, this is exactly what I mean, hope this will improve over time considering that it is the main issue I have with the X5

So far, 1.15 beta fw has been a nightmare for me. This is not the experimental beta, but the one just before that.

It's bug fixes work well, but it also introduces problems of its own.

10minutes into using it, after doing too many operations at once. It froze up on me and shut off. I was out in the cold, and so I could not reset it.

Later on, I was listening to a song. I decided to fast forward through it. But for some reason, it jumped in steps of 2minutes each. I quickly pressed the 'previous song' button and the device froze up again

This time, it produced a squeak squeak (almost like DJ spinning the disks sound) sound every few seconds.

It shut off and froze on the shut off screen.

Going to 1.1 stable now.  Not worth for me to use 1.15

Bowei, to add on, I noticed unusual slow downs that I cannot find the cause even though the power on/off times have improved.

I am recommending people to stick with 1.00 until these issues are fixed.

I had a write up involving the X5 and other TOTL DAPs. Hope it helps!

sorry, that is what you paid for the beta version. anyway, the new official version should be released in couple days. and I have using 1.17beta for couple days and have not any problem at all.

James, will it be ok for 1.17 to be released for 1.15 users?

Thankfully, you guys offer fw versions for free :D

No big deal. Simple downgrade to stable 1.1 and all is good.

Gonna be makaing much more X5 videos in the future. Any requests anybody? What do you guys want to see?

I am planning to make:

X5 : How to Update Firmware

X5: How to add songs and tips

X5: How to use as USB DAC

For our community members. Yes, many of these may seem simple to you guys, but my data shows me that a lot of users that search for this stuff REALLY don't know how to do it and thus the videos help. Some of these steps and fine points are also missed by people (some directly drop the .zip fw folder onto SD card and then tell me it doesn't work for example)

Just a heads up. So yeah, give me some suggestions :D
