Naked X5...

Warning: Nudity! (Click to show)

While I appreciate the protection of the included silicon case - it is a great high-function accessory - it occurred to me last night that the X5 is too gorgeous to be kept in it. So I took it out.

Lee Valley Tools 1.5mm bumpers for no-skid table top protection.

I like the the jack protectors that Fiio includes with the X5.

I completely agree.

Even though people are forever assuring me that power output does not need to be substantial for sensitive CIEM usage, I still feel that extra power reserves DO make a difference to the authority of CIEM SQ. Seemingly, even tiny sensitive BAs respond well to hefty power reserves, for accurate dynamic excursions (you know what I mean ). I've given up caring about the geeky technicalities behind it, and just appreciate the synergy a relatively powerful amp stage can offer, even with relatively easy to drive loads. :beerchug:

I definitely agree with that. Having a good power source adds authority/weight to the sound while with sources that lack power tend to be thin and lack punch :).

Thanks!

Actually I took out the cigar photo because I though that it took the focus off the X5. Well, here it is.  :-)

Thanks. That is the Final Audio Design Heaven VI. The cable is pretty much bullet-proof which I like. What I really like is that the Heaven VI sounds fantastic; it is my favourite BA IEM.

Lol I guess some of us are more verbal than others about dressing up this guy. As most of us found out, it's a tad tacky to say the least and mine split at the corner and that was only few days after I had it, secondly it's been stinking my room for days (nature of silicon material has a relatively strong odour), not sure what kind of silicon they used in the design. I did like the thickness though. As far as shape, it's following the player's contour but sometimes its best if it had holes to let the buttons breath wink.gif

What Lee is talking about is a leather case like the ak brand. With the X5 shape you might have a bit of a challenge though. Have you had a chance to hook up with leather case manufacturers?

The one for my old Sansa Fuze was very durable and outlasted the player itself.... Well actually both got stolen... :D

James, I never inhale - which sounds like Bill Clinton but with cigars it is actually true! :-)
