The Fiio X5 Thread

So you guys saying WOW etc, is this based off regular 320kpbs MP3/FLAC. Will the X5 benefit most source material or does it have to be HighRes or whatever the gimmick is for more frequency etc

I don't think it is just for low res files, I have my sampler of hi res files as well and the Wow factor goes well into the 192khz/24bit files. It actually performs admirably well with hi res files.

Being on the tour list for the X5, I can hardly wait to experience the suckage that is the X5.

As I am a real sport, I think you should just pop her in the mail to me and spare yourself what will obviously be a bitter disappointment.

For portable use I re-encode to 320kbps in Lame. The X5 does a great job with those files.

An iPod works perfectly well with such files too, but the point of the X3 / X5 is to go beyond mp3. Sigh.
I'm not saying you can't like what you like, but it's sad when people buy sports cars and use them to drive to work only.

Which to me just shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the concept of sound quality. This is not an argument that I am going to indulge you on.

We've all been spared, which is a first on head-fi. Arguments are only fun to watch in person imo.
