Lovely screen, though.

Personally, I have absolutely zero desire to see an X7 with a screen any larger than 4.3"

i think the screen, processor alone are worthy of just 580$ price tag

the DAC and AMP are added bonus.

had apple made a tablet with these specs it would be asking 1000$ atleast

To some extent, I agree. It does look good value, but as a phablet, not as a serious 'DAP-blet' (yeah, I just made that word up, but you know what I mean )

thats fine but its by a long shot the best thing an audiophile can get if he wishes to buy a tablet.

plus the other hardware specs rival the best available today and the screen surpasses the best.

maybe they have made it well,i mean we have n specs or data to really decide!!??

2)windows will be pretty costly plus who will make it??certainly not nokia

3)ubuntu/linux??

i don't think its possible at an affordable price.

Samsung's newest Windows 8 touchscreen laptop has a Wolfson DAC built in. THAT is a start and i can totally see their Ativ Tablets having them too soon

Dealer of FiiO here invited me to try the demo X5. I ask him when I can buy, he inform that may be end of March.

I also ask him what does its sound when compare to X3. He told that X5 has more details but less warm than X3. So I design to order X3 mod version.

If X5 is that goods, I will buy it after firmware is stable. Or wait until X7 launched. :)

He also told me that it should be gold button version for sale here.

Gold buttons? :triportsad: Disgusting, IMO.

I live in Thailand. Demo X5 already available in authorized dealer shop.

I don't know whether it only be a gold buttoned version or not. I just ask dealer that, if there any chance that I will get a gold version? He said sure, it will be gold version in Thailand. I will ask him tomorrow if you want to know.

But I think X3 mod version is a good to go. Warm sound with more sound stage. My 2.0 system consist of Cary Audio gear and Martin Logan speaker. It a very good combination of warm and details sound.

we really need James back in here. FiiO doesn't really checks Head-Fi it seems, and i'd really like to know some more about this.

Well James had surgery/surgeries, I think it is completely fine to give him a rest time. I am not in worry, he can come back as soon as he feels good about his health.

Our hobby is not more important than his health.

Seem that button color have many effect.

For me, I only concern that if X5 sound that good, I have to pay twice for X3 first then X5 :(

I will ask dealer tomorrow, and when you wake up on Saturday there will be answer for every one.

Anyhow, I think that gold version may be only available in some area such as Asia only.

You know that James always listens to his customers.

Sound good for my Re600

when i pair X3 with Re600 it give me too much bass

i hope X5 = X3 + less warm and better soundstage. it'll be perfect :D
