Make that d**n output impedance less than 2, so everybody will be happy. Look at FiiO, they even put less than 1.

man clip+ is a champ here,with impedance near 1

now i don't think only dac is important, there may be thousand other factors so guess what,,,,,u may have to listen to both:atsmile:

So which one is better in your opinion? Obviously X5 hasn't been released but what do you anticipate?

I have a UE 900 if that helps

I respect their experience in the industry thanks to their desktop products, but still while there is a "safe choice" for everybody, why risk it and try to expand the borders? I don't even have a low impedance can/iem but who knows maybe in the future I will have one?

All my stuffs are low impedance, and my DAP output is also at 3ohms. I find the hype over the difference between 3 and <1 ohms highly exaggerated if you ask me. I think one of the main reason why FiiO chose <1 ohm is to appease the mass public.

Agree sometimes trust your ears is more important

I have dx50 and Rwak100 which is not as good as ak120, i compared dx50 amped line out with T1 amp against Rwak pure. Bottom line simple, dx50 amped still does not catch with Rwak, it gets closer but Rwak still holds an audible edge. IEMs in use are 1p2. So i guess there is enough evidence to counteract personal bias wink.gif

Are you kidding?  There's never enough evidence to counteract personal bias...ever...:p

If it were just about the DAC chip, The TI would be my choice but it's not the bit that will make or break these units. You really do need to listen to understand which you prefer.

Thanks, I am just curious about the classes of these devices. Like I can buy a Ak100 MK2 or the X5. I've already heard the MK2 and I liked it. Better than my current Cowon J3. Are they even in the same class or is the X7 more a competitor to the MK2?

We already know the MKII is VG. We're waiting for reliable opinions on the X5 and how it compares. Of course, they're not in the same price range by a factor of 2.

If Fiio was blowing money on its Marketing Dept, they'd have Bobby, Kitty, or Rogue use this in the next X-Men (pre)sequel, like Scot Summers owning a Mazda RX-8 in the same color as the 90's costume (the one that had the TV series, and the ones in the Playstation fighting games - the movies followed the idea of uniforms from the earlier parts of the comics but used black instead of the one with a huge yellow "X" on the torso).

But Days of Future Past is set in the 60's... which means more disco and less Fiio...
