You can blame the motherboard designer?
Or the sound card designer?

Both the X3/5 can drive a hd5x8 no problem. The only reason I've ever used the amp for them is the amp's already strapped on and there anyways, so why not

Interesting, I keep forgetting that the DXes are using Android OS (somewhat). Thanks for the heads up, looks like we have to make do with what we have eh :)

The sound card designer would be FiiO, the motherboard designer isn't new to this, and knows what they're doing (ASUS) so it's just me not having a ground computer... wink.gif

I have come across a wierd error with the genre on the fiio x5 - items categorised as Jazz suddenly become Metal when transferred to the fiio - this only happens to odd files - anyone any ideas?

Okay, I don't need it but I think I want it anyway.

E12 or E12 DIY?

And if E12 DIY silver or gold?

My phones do not require either but I desire new toys. I think I'd enjoy the E12 and would miss the features they removed on the E12 DIY. Plus I am nervous about the if you have problems with it your on your own aspect of the DIY. Not that I have had problems with any Fiio gear so far.

The headphones I use do not require more than the X5 offers I'm just in the mood.

@aangen: E12 DIY all the way, baby! My regular old E12 hasn't seen much use since I got my DIY. I really like the ability to easily change sound signature by quickly swapping out opamps. It's been a lot of fun and enhanced my listening pleasure!

Gold or silver is up to you, my good sir. I purchased silver and am happy I did - not much for the bling, bling myself.

Another problem ...
With firmware 2.0, some tracks (44/16 flac with embedded album art) blocked the X5.
Updating to 2.02b I solved the problem, the X5 does not hang anymore, but sometimes the track "skips".
It plays the song, skip a few seconds and restart to play it regularly.
Of course, the same files are played regularly on all other DAP I have, without issues.
This FiiO is driving me mad ...

If you won't use "bass gain" or crossfeed, then get the DIY. You can roll the opamp and that's definitely worth it (to me)

What's the size of the embedded album art?

Also, i haven't heard of skip-then-restart before, so maybe the micro sd card is at fault, or your specific X5.

Have you tried the deduction method i suggested to you?

I have that same problem on my X5 all too often and I was wondering whether it was the recording's fault (Flac16/44 or that of the X5. I hope the cause is found out and I am reassured that you have found this problem not existing on other players. Incidentally, I updated the firmware to 2.07b.

I only use flac 16/44 and have never experienced that problem with f/w 2.0. All 700gb of my flacs were ripped from my personal collection and were not downloaded, they all have imbedded album art as well as a folder.jpg.

Device issues for me are non existent on the 5, and although I have never experienced the multitude of issues on the DX90 there are certainly a lot more known issues with it than the 5.

I'm sorry, I have not explained well.
When the track skip, do not restart from the beginning, just the player does not play a small portion of the song.
It happens something similar to what was going on by listening to old vinyl records when they were damaged and the needle jumped
.

Album art in my files is 500x500 px.

Yes, i solved my previous issue with the method suggested by you...was really a pain in the ass but at least that problem is solved! :)

I believe on 2.0 this had to do with "gapless playback" not automatically turning on, so on later firmwares this should be solved.

Could someone explain how to get playlists created on the pc top work, i have tried and the x5 is still not recognizing them

TF1:\New folder\Arthur Prysock - The Best Of Arthur Prysock (The Milestone Years).flac
