(There were iPods and one AK240) I could not find anything to support the claim Muenchener has made. Just sayin.....

Ho-ho, someone was able to dig up some stats wink_face.gif.

Ok, as the playing icon with thre horisantally lines just will play all songs in the map directory, how to play all songs in the entire card?

Or do I have to arrange all songs directly in the root with no map directorys? It´s really annoying having to scroll to switch album every time it ends!

I know I had the same issue with my Cowon J3, but found a way to play all songs in a row.

I got my Fiio X5 today and everything is working fine - well, besides the equalizer.

Listening with my Beyerdynamic T90 over regular headphone-output there is absolutely no change in sound (or volume) no matter what preset I choose - also no change when creating "crazy" custom equalizer settings.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Makes me almost think I am using it wrong, but I don't know how. The equalizer-setting is displayed on top when playing files just as I set it. But without any effect.

The player has been updated to the 2.05 Beta Firmware.

Songs on 2 x 64 gb cards.. Formats: Flac high-res and non high-res, dsd.. doesn't matter.

Thanks if anyone can help! :)

The EQ on the X5 is inactive for sample rates above 48kHz. Anything that is 48kHz and under is fine, but they limited it due to the processing power required to EQ higher sample rates. Word length (bit depth) is not a factor in the EQ limit.

Edit: I should add that the EQ works with the coaxial and line out, just not above 48kHz.

I might suggest re-flashing back to the last stable firmware version (2.0) and see if that helps. Could possibly be a bug in the beta firmware and remember as was already mentioned, files above a sampling rate of 48khz will not be affected by the EQ regardless of the file type.

2.05b? Latest release i've seen is 2.04b in this thread?

2.05b is out. EQ works as noted on 2.04b I'm using now.

Thanks a lot!
I was checking back and forth with files that were above 48kHz. So probably everything is as it should be, a bummer that it won't be possible with high-res files though.

Maybe they should add a visual indicator in a later firmware that the EQ is actually inactive when those files are played.

2.05b is available in this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/725253/fiio-x5-beta-firmware-2-04beta-2-05beta-download-and-discussion-improvement-of-playlist-and-cue-handlinghough.

Is there a feature request/comment thread? If it hasn't been mentioned already, a rather big omission for me is the lack of a rockbox style bookmarking feature. Yes the player resumes the last file played, but this is no good if you were listening to an audiobook and then listen to other songs. Desired behavior: File is bookmarked (manually or automatically, rockbox has optional feature to bookmark each time song is stopped). There is a small list of bookmarks of recent files played which is user selectable.

I am sure I'm not the only one who wants X5 for audiobooks too!

Oh yeah I already ran into the dreaded 5800 file limit. Seemed to freeze so I shut off and lost all Lib db. Then I just left it running after the count and it seemed ok. The other 'strange' thing about the db is that it seems to build anew each time, even though it already knows all the content of one card. A change only scan would be much more efficient!

That is a really good idea!

How's the synergy with the E17?
Any thoughts or it's not recommended?

My thoughts are that the E17 is not needed for use with the X5 (or X3). The amplifier sections of the X5 and X3 are very similar to that of the E17 so you really won't gain anything by adding the E17 into the output chain. If you really need more power from your X5, look at the E12 (or E12 DIY) if you want to stick with a Fiio product - they even make a mounting package that links the cases of the X5 and E12 making it one solid unit. The E12 definitely adds some power to the output chain, but if you're trying to drive anything with an impedance of more than 250 ohms, you'll probably want to consider a higher power portable amp, maybe something like the Pico Power, the Vorzuge VorzAMP Duo, the RSA Intruder or similar. Moving to a portable amp that's balanced (like the Intruder) is even stronger for power output - I know my RSA Intruder drives my 300 ohm Sennheiser HD800s very well, especially when used in balanced mode.

It's been a while since I've followed the Fiio development roadmap, but at one point there was discussion of a new model (E19?) that would be high powered and possibly support balanced mode. If Fiio is indeed still working on the E19, it might be worth waiting for.

I also would VERY much like to have bookmarking per file implicated, the reason is that I listen most of the time to long progressive/deep house mixes and it would be nice to change a mix and not loose my place. I use my Clip Zip (Rockboxed) for audiobooks as the X5 is just not practical for this.

Please can Joe or James confirm if this can be added to a future firmware.
