I have not heard if Skylab will make it to ChiUniFi. We moved the meet from November so to not conflict with Northwestern football so will cross our fingers.

I'm trying to narrow down what to bring. I see people are bringing things I own, so I can probably cross of the hd25, amperior, and rs1 from my list. I did get some of the stuff I said I was going to. But I don't know if there's much of a point in me bringing a momentum, UE6000, HD 558, K550, the Samson phones, or anything else people can demo at best buy, sam ash, or audio consultants. Maybe if they want to try it on different rigs at the event. I also got the O2 the other day. I would say it is superior to my Ibasso P2. Hooked up to my clip zip, it doesn't really have enough juice to drive my K701 to where it sounds engaging and full like my heed canamp does. Volume level was very moderate with everything maxed. Amperior sounds more accurate but less fun with the O2, seems irrelevant compared to the other phones now(but was basically my favorite while using the P2). The 558 is much clearer with the O2. The various headphone sound sigs are much more apparent on the O2. People say the UE6000 is too bassy and rolled off. Not with the O2. It can get fatiguing with albums like Eye in the Sky from Alan Parsons. Albums that don't have a lot of bass. I definitely feel the Momentum is the best of the closed phones, but the K550 does have an edge over it when it comes to my film scores. That extra treble energy really helps Rambo, Phantasm, and Star Wars music. The momentum does seem to make the UE6000 irrelevant. However, the momentums are my wife's, so the UE6000 will have to do until she buys the black momentums and presumably gives me her current pair.

If there is anything specific anyone wants me to bring, let me know and I'll bring what's requested.

I will be bringing my balanced Momentums, so it might be fun to compare single ended vs balanced.  I have a feeling there won't be much of a difference, but experiments are fun.

I will be bringing:

Denon ahd2000

Sennheiser hd600

Bottlehead Crack - no speedball yet

Grant Fidelity TubeDac 11

Macbook as source

Would love to hear the DT880 or 990 600ohm, and a version of the AKG 701-2-quincy jones, etc, with the crack.

also love to hear something good with the Denons.

you got it

I am always late to hearing about these things, but I may try to come. Most of my stuff is in storage, but I can bring an updated version of my Black Diamond amp, a matching DAC, and some HD800's.

I didn't get to hear Doug's new dac but the updated ECP Black Diamond is a great sounding amp. Truly great synergy with the HP1000.

and perhaps we finally meet :)

..dB

EDIT:

if there are any "orthoheads" out there that would like to hear some of the vintage planarmagnetics, PM me. I am happy to bring a few along for people to hear but will leave them at home otherwise.

Been lurking and just getting started on headfi, but I'll be there.

I'll be easy to spot - I'm the guy asking all the questions.

Am I supposed to bring something (that would interest the folks here) or can I just come, admire and go home frustrated?

P.S. - I can bring some phones, but don't want to embarass myself.

Hi...  I'll be joining you for this event, look forward to meeting you all!

I might go if I can get a ride.

I would have liked to bring the Eddie Current Electra, but it doesn't seem like mine will be ready in time.  I could, however, bring my main dynamic setup: Stello U3 w/Aqvox PSU -> NAD M51 -> Eddie Current Balancing Act -> HD800's or TH900's and perhaps Burson Conductor -> LCD-3's all powered by a B.P.T. 1 Signature.

If you have older Mad Dogs and are coming I do free tune ups when I'm at meets.  PM me if you're interested (if you have older pads you'll need to upgrade those).
