Hello headfi! I am currently looking for a rather cheap portable Amp/DAC combo and have found two sets that I like for an identical price, both at $150.

I'm in general a basshead (HFI 580's already, and HE-400's soon to come in). What would be a better choice, the iBasso PB1  or a Fiio E12/E7 combo. I'll be using a Hifiman 601 to play my music in a 256 AAC, 320k or FLAC format.

What Dac/Amp would be better bang for my buck at the $150 mark?

Thanks

PB-1 Toucan is an amp, it has no DAC in it.

I can't see how the Fiio E7, or any DAC, will figure in that set-up. HM601 AFAIK has no digital output, be it USB or SPDIF.

From my experience with a bunch of gears:

1) Basshead and HE-400's don't seem to go together.

2) Get the E7 and use its bass boost.
