Full ATH-M50 PaintJob

I saw this picture:

http://hinoraito.deviantart.com/art/Welovefine-MLP-FIM-Rainbow-Dash-Headphone-346835361

And thought, "Woah, I want my headphones to look like those"

But the thing is, I've never done any paintjobs at all and was wondering a couple things:

Is it hard (Or even possible)?

What would I need to do and what supplies would I need?

What would be good to try out first as "training"?

EDIT: I do have access to a workshop which includes a spraypaint area and there's people there willing to help, but I wanted to check here first since it's a pretty good bit away for just going there to ask.

I would like to learn about paint jobs as well but the pictures are t-shirt designs.

I know, but the headphones she is wearing have a print that i would lkike to reproduce, there are plenty of vectors of their "cutie-marks" around, and the coloring does not need to be 100% perfect. so I could easily do the actual picture needed on the outside.

The rest are just solid colors.
