DX50 a new smaller DAP from iBasso. Spec. page 1. Impressions start on page. . . - Page 62

Rather quiet on here over the last little while. I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about the DX50 considering its supposedly going to be released in the next 2 or 3 weeks

Meh, another sheep in Wolfson WM 8740 clothing. rolleyes.gif

Nice to see more competition in the high end DAP market, though.

I was surprised that there isn't any pre-production unit  available for DX50 since it will be laucnhed in next month?

DX50 is a very interesting DAP since we don't know the price & how it sounds?

One thing for sure DX50 should not sound worse than Fiio X3 or Colofly C3+C&C BH. biggrin.gif

I would say there are 2 leagues in DAPs, one is being the Ivy League.

They are:

  • iBasso DX100 (aging reference best sounded DAP),
  • iBasso HDP-R10 (face-lifted with longer batter,
  • HiFiman HM-901 (the best sound or poor in build quality)
  • iRiver AK1200 (the most expensive & elegant)
  • Colofly C4 (againg & no firmware upate)
  • Fiio X5 (soon, it is a black horse)

There other one I would call it as " 2nd Tiers"
They are:

  • Fiio X3  (great sound & great price)
  • iRiver AK100 (the best sound but most expensive)
  • Hisound Nova 3
  • HiFiman HM-60X series
  • Colorfly C3+C&CBH (great sound but a lot of limitation)
  • iBasso DX50 (soon, it is a black horse)

Nope.

It is back in stock.

The Nova's were a different line altogether, catering more to the mainstream AFAIK.

Nope, wormdriver is right they're still in production and supposedly HiSound may even try putting out a firmware update to fix some bugs

Supposedly there is another DAP in the works that's supposed to be their new flagship.

Nothing from iBasso. People are guessing anywhere from $250 to $500... I tend to think it will be closer to the higher end of this range.

anything about when will this be available?

I think July has been mentioned. If you need a very good sounding, but not too expensive DAP now, there is also the FiiO X3. It's $200 I believe.
