Okay!

It feels too light or fragile or something?

It's okay for its price but let's just say it's a photogenic unit.  Hopefully DX50 and Fiio's own X5 will be a big step up from the X3.

James mentioned X5 will be their Reference DAP and build quality will be the highest level. We all know how E12 is well built. So X5 will be probably on that level.

Btw guys we discuss X3 and FiiO products in iBasso DX50 thread biggrin.gif.

iBasso need to throw us more tidbits, or send a few engineering samples for us to continue the to discuss the DX50.... L3000.gif

Well that's also true. Apart from the specs they shared, nothing new comes from ibasso since that date. They can start with publishing the msrp for example tongue.gif

I would expect it to be $400-$500, so anything less is a bonus.
I love these long threads about products that don't yet exist, reminds me of the old Beatles remasters threads at SteveHoffman.tv, mostly irrelevant yet entertaining
I still haven't been tempted to change my 801 for any of the new breed of DAPs.
The availability and distribution in the UK is just appalling. So the chance of even seeing a DX100, 901, AK100 or DX50 is virtually zero .

It is isn't it? It's like we're forgotten about. Either have to buy direct or go through some rip off ebayer.

Buying direct ain't that bad, their prices are reasonable, the shipping cost is the only headache. Having it warranteed is another headache you just cross your fingers you'll never have to do it.

You can get both the DX100 and AK100 from distributors in the UK, to be honest for not more than importing from abroad and paying import duty. I would suggest that the DX50 will also be available eventually.

Ok we may not get them as quickly, or as cheap because of tax, as say Japan, China or The US but they are available.

The Japanese version of the dx100 is over £700 on eBay. On amazon Japan it works at around £490 and yes I know there's shipping on top and customs but then tenso the forwarding company don't put the full value of the package down.

Bit of a pain to have it sent back if it develops a fault though.

not when your saving over £400 on a AK120 & £200 on a AK100 by importing...  get sent as a gift with a $30 value (Tenso stylie)... it only cost £20 max to send back if there's a prob', which I've never encountered.

The word distribution implies that they are distributed to shops, and they are not. I live and work in London

and I know of no shops where I can try out a DX100 or AK100 or HM-602.

These companies are web based importers, like Advancedmp3. I have a problem with handing over £800+

for something I have never held or even seen.

I second Tenso.com services.  Fast, easy, reliable, and they won't list the item as merchandise.  They even have very detailed instruction on how to fill in the ordering page on various japanese site including amazon.co.jp

Amazon japan sells many headgear very cheap (esp Japanese brands like Sony) and I have had used Tenso to ship to HK multiple times without any issues.

I bought my DX100 straight from Ibasso and my $50 usb sound card cleared customs with no issues. I had to send it back for wifi issues and had it back in less than a week. I couldn't care less about distribution wink.gif
