I absolutely believe the DX50 will have better sound than the AK100 and frankly, I don't think the AK100 sounds bad at all but for value, sound quality, exchangeable battery and a company more responsive to customers, the DX50 will be great for the wallet and ears.

I think we're all keeping our fingers crossed that you're right.

@Sorenslim

I've calmed down now and removed the ignore. Sorry for snapping like that and being rude a few days ago. I had a bad day and it spilled over onto here.

Back to the DX50, you guys think this thing will have any EQ settings worth the time to play with?

The good thing about putting people on ignore is that they won't even notice, sorry if I pissed you off beerchug.gif

it would be great if this thing has an eq system on par with Cowon's jeteffect and BBE :D

Also, will this thing have digital out?

Stay with your Cowon in that case as I don't think other companies will feature BBE sound enhancement technologies.  I used to really like EQing the heck out of my players during my younger days.  Now I've grown to appreciate flat setting without any frequencies enhancement.

I never use EQ settings. I want as little in between me and how the recording was made, good or bad. Even my home system, which I built based upon a total tube system, has so few connections as go the extreme. My preamp is hard wired out for the IC's, which I custom made and the same for the DAC, which I built, to the preamp. The preamp has one switch and even that I tore open and replace the contacts with high purity silver, even making the wiper, which is pure silver. So for me, no EQ. :^)

Well the ak100 has the same dac as the x3 and look at the cost of that.

Does DX-50 support DVD-Audio (MLP 5.1 44.1kHz/24Bit, MLP 2.0 44.1kHz/24Bit | Dolby AC3 5.1) |?

I read somewhere DX-100 support this format. Don't quote me,  I might be wrong.

Sorry if the question has been asked before.

Speakers came from Canada. Labor of the insane. I worked on the preamp for about 1.5 years getting the tubes and output transformers to what I wanted, by ear. Pure music.

No, I doubt that.  However you can rip DVD-Audio to hi-rez PCM quite easily user DVD-A Explorer.  I ripped several of DVD-A in the past.  For 5.1 DVD-A, just do a "Stereo Down-mix" Option.

Just get a hold of the actual unit and you'd see what I meant.  :)    Something's got to give for Fiio to get to its $200 price point while still worthwhile for them.  Very good sound tho.
