Hey, CB, you should use your tube amps with an extremely heavy bass curve, and test the sz2000 and xb1000 that way. That would truly be a bass test. You have both, and the only other guy who tested them, hbb, said that the xb's distort before sz's. For a second person to confirm this would be great... Plus, if your tube amps are powerful enough, maybe find the sz's distortion point?

THE

That staff guy is not pleased with my pic taking

DO NOT quote all these pics!!

I want folks to know that while I call these the Kings of Bass I listen to everything. If you own the sz2000 you own a very nice set and they are priced too low. The price is going up. I wouldn't take anything made of wood for bass and frankly nothing touches them in that area. The T1 are another level of clarity but they kick the hell out of the HD800 and those cost $1,500.

Make no mistake. These cans...the sz are very nice. If you have listened to all this stuff enough you start to appreciate them more.

Be proud. These cans are awesome.

I will buy the T1 someday when I feel the need but otherwise I'm set.

Some folks buy and listen.

I listen and buy.

I'm very happy with these sz and would never lose em'.

Oh want to visit a headphone store like that one of these days!!!

I recently got the JVC DX700s and they are actually quite good (and quite bassy... not SZ2000 bassy though...)

No way!  What do you compare them to?  Denon D5000?  I've been considering them or the DX1000................

The JVC HP-DX1000's are great cans, similarly built to the FOSTEX TH600, only with wood ear cups and thicker earpads.

Sound of DX1000's is less analytic than the TH600's and more forgiving with a warmer sound to compare with the FOSTEX IMO.

Nice pics - it's amazing to see such a massive comprehensive array of what looks like every make and model of headphone from budget to summit-fi gloriously displayed in these stores you have in Japan as it gives you the best accessibility to listen and buy for sure.

I don't think there is any stores in the UK that could even come close to the kind of headcan heaven stores shown in your pics.

It looks like another world in the land of the rising sun - I reckon I could lose months and a lot of green if left to my own devices in these super headcan stores for sure biggrin.gif

you seem to just buy stuff off of recommendations. Like, you bought an xb1000, and then said: what the hell! May as well buy a sz2000 also!... Do you have money to waste lol?... I wish I did! You're lucky you even have headphone shops where they display things other than Bose, beats, sol republics, or skull candy. That's the only headphones I've ever seen on display in the USA. We don't even really have headphone specialty shops. The ones we do have are at places like new York etc... Wait! Maybe there's one at mall of America that I missed when I wasn't an audiophile! I'm in Minnesota, and since MOA is in Minnesota, I might just look online and see if they do, and if so, then I know I could go... Although, I doubt they'd have flagships from audiophile brands. It would probably be every Bose headphone, every beats, every sol, every skull candy, and then an HD 598, and a beyerdynamic dt770.

What does the "bass table treatment" mean? are they coming up with a different/ altered version? or is it just a price/ marketing change?

Great cans = great sound quality - bass is stronger than TH600 but not over cooked, rather more seasoned in a controlled manner, measured, with body to it smily_headphones1.gif
