What do you mean?

There's already the Denon D600, V-Moda M100, Yamaha Pro 500, AKG Tiesto Headphones, AT WS99, etc. etc.

denon D600, with the exception of one guy in the basshead club, has been given nothing but bad reviews. ofcourse thats not to say its a bad headphone, ofcourse i should listen to it before judging, but im afraid i have no option of auditioning gear before i buy it, and return policies run out by the time i get anything in the mail - i live far far away. i already own the m-100. the yamaha pro-500 seems to be a more expensive m-100 thats less comfortable, forgot about the akg tiesto and the WS99.

let me explain more carefully and more politically correct. what im after is a headphone in the 350-500$ range that supplies good overall sound, but is still bass capable, and more specifically, sub bass. as ive mentioned, i already own the m-100. im looking for an upgrade (in the rather distant future mind you, but nonetheless). i feel the headphones youve mentioned are more of a side grade than an actual upgrade. the WS99 would give me more mids, the tiestos more mid-bass (all this based on reviews of course, not on personal experience) etc. i dont want just something different - i want something better. tighter bass, flatter freq response for the rest of the frequencies, cleaner sound, better comfort and what not. what i really want, again, based on the reviews its getting, is a closed back, bassyer he-400. trust me that aside for the tiestos, i researched alot about all the cans youve mentioned and eventually decided on the m-100. knowing theres a decade until i upgrade again, im casually reading up about interesting looking cans and awaiting new arrivals such as the sz2000.

i thought for a while about getting a pair of mad dogs, but i spoke to several owners who said that no matter how much eqing they subjected them to - the MDs could not be turned into bass monsters.

We're just waiting for the anointed one... YOU!

I can't speak for others, but when headphones start costing over $300, I have to wait for impressions before buying them, and they better be good!. Also, I'm very happy with the headphones that I currently have, so that factors in.

So in summary... bring on the hype! Seriously though, it's great that you are getting both of them. I presume that you will also be burning them both in quite well?

I'm still deciding between these and the WS99s. I need to hear some impressions before I choose because the cost is a significant difference.

I have a feeling the bass on the 1000/2000's is going to be ginormous.

I personally love the amount (and quality) of bass with the ws99's and am not sure that I would want any more. But that's me :)
