JVC HA-SZ2000/1000 Appreciation Thread - Page 47

I just bought the SZ2000 2 days ago directly from Amazon Japan, shipped through Tenso.

Here are the exact prices I paid in US dollars:

$211.51 (¥20,790 + 3% + $3 Amazon conversion fee) JVC HA-Z2000

$46.45 (¥4,630 = ¥980 Service Fee + ¥3,600 EMS Fee + ¥50 EMS Insurance) Tenso.com shipping to California

$257.96 Total

Total weight of package: 1,520g

If Tenso ships it today, I might receive it over the weekend.

What's the big deal?

That has to be on some folks mind.

I chose 4 cans that crippled under my default settings to show what the big deal is for me.

That red box is an area where these and virtually all drivers lost control. It is a ridiculous slope but it is what I am using.

This is not the SPL/V chart it's just the drivers freq response slope.

The Mach3Bass is on +8 (as is the BBE...+8)

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

The eq sliders are flat. The Mach3bass is pushing the curve but I am not manually. That is flat

This signal heads to the Fiio e12 and it's beautiful bass switch

The e12 is an amazingly priced little piece of work. I hated a bass "switch" but they ******* NAILED it.

On every can...every single one. The red box is the approximate area of distortion/failure/audible anomaly occurred.

One my second listen I realized the Pro 900 wasn't distorting as much as refusing to continue. It does not respond to ridiculous instructions.

It hits hard in the late sub early mids but won't go as low. The Th900 displayed a wobble and it was shut down quick. I'm not paying for the abuse of a beautiful can.

I love these because that bump which is an approximation is the edge of listening. I suffer bouts of zzzzzmmmmmm's for a while after more than 20 minutes of listening to bass that loud.

This is what no other cans do and why should they? Oh..I dunno?...cuz they claim to be Bass cans?

I'm coming into the chart 10-20 Hz highly elevated and I get rumble and low bass nausea. The sub 20Hz isn't audible but the energy being sent to the drivers is still going until they respond no more. Your ears lose touch with the note before the driver does. You can feel that.

I might touch the eq someday and see if I can get these to play nice with other genre'..I see no reason they can't but many why they should.

You need to change the cups. It's total ********. JVC has no excuse to put a grill on your ******* earlobe. I think gelocks would have heard a different signature with a cup change and I respect his knowledge a lot but why should anyone have to change anything? I hated the Q40 for the ******* cord and now I'm altering this cans default design. It's ******** but it is what it is.

A ******* cannon.

If I toned down the Mach3Bass on some cans they would be better but I thought I shouldn't have to. Eventually I didn't. I found these by accident. I never saw the thread about these on here and was never told...I'm a basshead to the core...I was never told to try these:blink:

Where can I buy the newer cups for the JVC?

Or by cups you mean the earpads?

He means pads.

Thank you O kind dweller of the mighty state of Oregon. A change of cups got me all confused as it is a very complex procedure. A pad change should be pretty darned easy.

Looking forward to a deal, only getting around 300usd over at ebay :|

I don't get what you did, or what are you complaining about... can you elaborate a little more?

I'm not complaining:D

I was explaining exactly why I love these cans. They go where others won't. My bitching about the pads (not cups):o....was just a side rant.

I was vibrating my upper neck...neck.......with this last night

This goes beyond the audible very smoothly...and at blast level with vibrate your upper neck...these cans shine here under my settings. I was having a blast. Sorry about the Cup/pad confusion

So just bought these from headfier spurxiii, plugged them into Bifrost Uber/Vali combo and first impressions are :basshead: WOW

Vali is probably not a good choice for these 16ohm cans but my ears disagree ;)

As an owner of other bass cannons such as DX1000, D7000, DT770AE, PRO 900, Q40, D1100, Pro700mk2, XB700, XB500, I have to say these JVC's produce some ridiculously satisfying low bass. I like how they don't exaggerate mid bass like PRO 900 or D1100 for example. Just don't expect D7000 levels of clarity because these cans are strictly for bass heads IMO.

I also expected them to be kinda uncomfortable since they're designed for portable use but surprisingly they're very very comfortable. More comfortable than DT770 AE imo.

Not bad not bad :D

Go to

http://mp3fiber.com/

extract 320kbps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmP7TYtDVUU   long low slope

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fgVXZHVOfQ   you know this one...pure impact

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJEzl31zL-I   impact/ roll off

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dDrSgONpFQ    listen to the whole thing. Half the hit is dropping below audibe.

The pad change will really help a lot. I hate when folks claim another level with effort but these should surround your ears not sit on em'.....IMO

Glad you got em.

My friend brought his Detox today and got thoroughly man handled. He's ordered his today.

Last tracking update of my SZ2000:

03/28/2014 07:49 Dispatch from outward office of exchange   TOKYO INT TOKYO
138-8799

That was around yesterday afternoon, CA time (it's 5:30AM right now).

I only have a Fiio E5, with Max Output at 15 Ohms at 108 mW. I'm looking to get a Fiio E12 or a Fiio E09k. Maybe the E09k is overkill? I also don't wanna miss E12's bass boost.

Looks like the diff is E5 +1.5dB @20Hz .......... E12 +3.5dB @20Hz....peaks @+2.5dB  from 50-70Hz

                           E5 +2.5dB @30Hz............E12 +4.0dB @30Hz....peaks @4.0dB @25Hz

The E5 is pretty typical. You're gonna get a little boost at the audible threshold.

Congrats btw. :D

Get the Fiio E12 DIY or similar amp and you're all set.

I'll bug you for pictures later when I buy the actual pair, and how much do the cups cost, a rough idea since I assume I'll have to buy them separately?

I'll do the pics when you need em' These look right @Kukyo  knows more than me about options. It is very very easy and fast though.

It pulls off like so and you stretch the new ones over and in...it's easier than opening a new jar of peanut butter:D

Hawaii! YOU'RE THE BEST

Also thanks for this. Although I'm nervous that I might accidentally fold the pad, like when I opened my Sennheiser HD439 the pad has a hard plastic within it and it snapped/folded in half. It's still usable, but I don't want that to happen again.

I didn't mean to sound anticlimactic in my previous reply lol I had to leave urgently and forgot to say how excited I was.

I was lamenting how I never got to try the XB500 back when it was selling normally for $45. I pretty much ignored full size headphones back then. And then once I tried to look for basshead cans all I could hear was that such and such could not surpass the XB500 and too bad it's gone forever. This is the first time I'm seeing a direct confirmation that something is at least on the XB500 level bass-wise (although from how you said it I can't be certain if you mean they're better or not). And DX1000, wow. The only other person in head-fi I know that tests bass to distortion is Hawaii (maybe I just haven't looked enough, but it seems that most self-proclaimed bassheads have low loudness thresholds), and I only ever tested in-ears (budget-fi), so I was wondering if you could tell us which of those bass cannons give up last/distort at the highest bass volume. I already took Hawaii's word that the SZ2000 has no equal, but hearing from someone possessing a DX1000 should be meaningful.
