Should I get the HA-S500 or HA-S400? What do you think?

I'm going by what people like RPGWiZaRD and MalVeauX have said about them, and they were apparently the best of the XB line and enjoyable to listen to for InnerFidelity.

If I can find a pair of really fun headphones in the $100-140 range for what I want to listen to, I can still cancel this order, but I keep coming back to this model for some reason as it seems to me that the next best thing for what I want is the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro, which is still too expensive of a purchase at $200.

You dont have to be an "audiophile" to appreciate good sound reproduction.

The graph quantifies the flaws in the XB500.  Its all bass and for the most part nothing else.

I'm saying the graph is meaningless to me because it doesn't make sense to me. I see the bass is high but it doesn't tell me sh***- I'm not an audiophile.

Plus, what do I know... maybe the EQ would make it sound great, despite the chart.

Either way, they were not in stock there either so I am looking at either the HAS500 or HAS400.

I haven't heard the S400, just the S500. The S500 to me is the can to beat in the <$100 range.

Thanks guys!

I bet you'll enjoy them. They have some nice bass emphasis and pretty clear mids and highs. smily_headphones1.gif

I'm listening to the Philips downtown for the first time. Only cost me about 40 bucks. I must say the sound is very god for that price wink.gif

I just bought these to go with them:

Hopefully the bass emphasis is still there with them...
