Kinda like he dropped those headphones.....

I wanted to point out that I liked that Head-Direct was there, the HM-901 was really nice. A little bulky for my tastes. I think this is a great player though for anyone considering a high end DAP that wants the option of balanced portability. The idea that in the flick of a switch you can go to balanced is awesome and it's gonna be thinner than any other balanced rig. Volume control is protected unlike the AK100 which just has a know sticking out.

The AK100 and RWAK100 is definitely beautiful though. The back is so shiny and black. Felt good in the hand, which I really liked. The sound of each was really nice as well. I felt pretty comfortable with the sound signature right away so I messed around with the EQ. It was cool that they have an EQ you can customize on the fly. Really cool and I can see using that a lot if I owned one.

Both these devices are great entries into the market. I was happy to get to hear them, it's completely why Meet Up's are so great, getting to try the things you are interested in without having to buy them first.

Plenty time to convert you next meet.

And I only brought it up cause it was funny, wasn't intending to be mean. I started off as a basshead. I find my setups that are bell balanced also satisfy my basshead side more than ever before. I like my bass clean, not muddled with the mids.

It is also about system matching. Every component in your system can make a significant difference in what you hear,  The Mad Dogs have plenty of bass. The LCD2 is a bass headphone but also very neutral and balanced in my system.

Yup, this exactly. I like bassy fun headphones, but I also love neutral. I haven't yet found the right open neutral can for my home set up (in my price range anyway). But in the end it is all about getting the right components for the right job. From the headphones to the amp to the dac. Each does something different to the sound before it reaches your ear.

I love these meets because every time I go I feel like I'm that much closer to finding what I want in a system.

Quality interconnects also make a major difference in the sound over inexpensive ones. I like using better cables to finish off the system.   Too often people ignore the cables and they never truly realize the potential of what their system is capable of. I swapped a cheap pair of monoprice cables for my amp to source and the music  from my monitors changed for the worse. Putting the Audioquest cable back in brought it to life and the Nordost Blue Heaven cables really let me hear the mjusic the way it is meant to be heard. They just get out of the way. IMO cables make a big difference.

My favorite headphones there were definitely the R10's. I just sat there in awe, listening to Kid A. No other headphones there had that effect on me.

So what do you guys think?

Radiohead especially Kid A thru HD800s may be even better then that. There are a few on the site that share this claim

I only started looking at cables this year because of Dimitri. Which is why I went with a IEM that used the CIEM 2 pin connector. Granted the stock cable of the ASG-1.3 is great. I look forward to hearing if there are any differences with the Silver Dragon.

well i gotta hear it, i heard kid a the first time a few weeks ago, now going fast to my top 10 albums.

by the way, me and mrspeakers had a conversation and it ended up being a huge misunderstanding (as expected) and everything's okay between me and him.
