I don't believe there is a stable RockBox on the Classic "7"/6 rev 2.  You could always just use ALAC though. If FLAC is a must, go for the AK100.

Doesn't Rockbox allow flac? I was under the impression that it did?

It does. The issue is that RockBox, at least according to their site, won't work on an iPod Classic-

It works fine on iPod classic 7G, been running rockbox for over a year on mine.
I have the iPod + C5 combo, excellent setup!

Using emCore bootloader I think

Yes, emcore it is. But fairly stable. I really like the classic because of storage and form factor. It pairsbeautifully with the C5 as they are roughly the same size. The classics DAC isn't that bad as most say.
