Both great headphones and the t90 is a nice headphone. Not cheap but comparedf tho the sennheiser hd700 I liked it better  and it was less money.

During a quick spin with the T90, I too found it MUCH better than the HD700. The HD700s felt completely artificial in every way. Soundstage presented itself as "airy" but so much that it felt as if a poor "surround" codec was being used--more in my head than projected in front of me as the HD800 and T1 are able to do. As a past LCD2.3 owner and future HD800 owner, I must say that there's something wrong with the HD700's treble. The smashing of the anvil from the first scene in Wagner's Siegfried (Hoho! Hoho! Hohei! Schmiede mein Hammer) comes off as piercing, not the finely tuned "anvil" meant for euphoric pleasure. I think you all get the point that I'm not a fan of the HD700s...rather than continue with my dirty laundry list of complaints, I'll just stop while I'm still writing coherently (enough).

I've had my T1's for going on a month now and am really happy with them. They have exceeded my expectations...and my expectations were very high. I'm running them through a Schiit Bifrost/Schiit Lyr with some high-end Mullard tubes. The presence, balance, detail-retrieval and instrument timbre are all excellent...and I'm only about 100-125 hours into the burn-in.

But in trying to get the T1's to their highest level I am considering upgrading the cable.

Macedonian Hero had mentioned a different post that Beyerdynamic USA would still honor their warranty with a cable upgrade from Moon Audio. I checked with both Drew Baird at Moon and Beyerdynamic and verified this.

It seems the stock T1 cable is a relatively high quality one compared to other stocks. I wouldn't expect a night and day difference in re-cabling but I would like to hear from anyone here who has re-cabled with a Moon Audio Black Dragon v2....or any of their other cables. I've heard from one other head-fi'er and he was very satisfied with what the Black Dragon added to his sound, though it was relatively subtle. Just trying to decide if the reward is worth the investment.  Please post your impressions or feel free to PM me.

i have about the same hours on mine. What is the bitfrost DAC like that you are using. i have to upgrade mine soon. i am using the RDAC at the moment. I was thinking of getting the WFS DAC11 to go with my T1 and WA2 but one or 2 people mention that the WFS DAC11 could be a bit bright.

I too was considering recabling my T5p, but as time goes by listening to the T5p, my interest is waning.

And I keep reading in places that the cable is a really good quality cable. I am actually kind of glad it is captive as that stops me wanting to play around with it. If the copper cable is already really good then I will stop there. For any slight improvement a cable will make I can tune my amp with a different set of tubes to get the same effect!

i recently heard a recabled t5p...think its copper wires...the bass was lacking nothing.. big and deep sounding.

v unlike the stock t5p

I have never heared the T5p with the stock cable but nothing can beat my T5p with ALO Audio Copper 22 Lariat. IMO it is the best closed headphone on the market. Nothing was lacking. I read a lot of lacking bass in this forum. I can't agree on this. My main music is Prog Rock and with that kind of music they are awesome.

Proud T1 owner here. Also have a pair of modded T50RP's. Great combo imo, but the T1's are the best of any headphone I've yet tried, hence why I kept them lol.

Haha totally agreed, I'm under the impression that the TH-900s are open cans with a holographic image as cups lol. Anyways, a 5 second listen to the bass will tell you they are NOT the same smily_headphones1.gif

Trance...how much would it cost u to mod the Alo coppers?
I bought them used and they were recabled. You have to calculate about 450USD for this cable.

Trance, I am a big fan of aftermarket cables and have seen their worth time after time but in all honesty do you think this is a worthwhile upgrade considering the cost? I ask a genuine question, not a criticism as if you feel your getting $450 worth of SQ upgrade I might consider it, your thoughts would be much appreciated.
