My birthday is coming up and this may be the ideal moment to buy my first pair of quality earphones. I've been reading on this forum for a while, but to be honest I'm not getting any wiser. It seems like there are so many viable options... Hopefully someone around here can guide me in the right direction, based on the information I write down in this thread. First and foremost, thanks for reading and helping me out!
I'm looking for some good in-ears which can be used for two different applications. First of all they will be used for my daily music listening whilst on the road, either by bus or bicycle. I mainly use an iPhone 5 as sound source (with Apple Lossless Rips). I know this isn't the best portable device, but I really like the fact that I always have my music with me. The stock iPhone 5 earbuds aren't that bad sound wise, but they are really uncomfortable for my ears. I really like the fact that I can control the songs and even have phone calls through them. At first I was looking at earphones designed for iPhone, but I guess this limits my options? Maybe it's better to buy a iPhone control cable and plug the in-ears into that, to have best of both worlds?
Secondly I will also try to use the in-ears for monitoring when playing with my band. I'm a guitar player and I'd like to use the earphones as my first experiment with an in-ear system, before committing to buying molded, high quality in-ears. So I'd like to have something that stays but and isolates very well.
I have a very broad music taste going from old school death metal, to 70's progressive rock, to post-rock and everything in between. Think of bands like Morgoth, Rush, Procupine Tree, Mastodon, Kreator, Atomic Rooster, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Black Sabbath, Radiohead, QOTSA, Joe Cocker, The Mars Volta, King Diamond, Melvins, ...
At the moment I'm completely in the dark. My budget will be around 100€, but If I can have much better quality by spending a little more, feel free to suggest other models!
Thanks in advance!
