Stax SR-007 "Omega II" MK1 Electrostatic Earspeakers - Toronto, Canada
Will Ship To: North America
Well, I've decided to do the unthinkable; sell my Stax SR-007's. Why, do you ask? Because on my trip to Asia two weeks ago I was able to listen to non other than THE cream of the crop, SR-009. And well, once I heard it, I knew I had to get it and be done with it once and for all! I'll be able to gather up enough money by July to purchase it, but for now I need to pay a deposit for my friend over there so that he can get it directly from Japan... which means that my 007's will have to go. These are excellent as all those countless reviews state, and if I was making enough I'd certainly have kept them around. But my plan now is to sell these and keep the LCD-2's which are not nearly as technically proficient, but still similar sounding enough, and save $1000 to put towards the 009 purchase.
I'm the third owner of these headphones, and I cannot detect any obvious fault with these at all, the earcups, the frame, the cables, and the headband are all in excellent condition. They're the early 71xxx serial version. They have no volume imbalances I can detect (it once did have it many months ago, but upon discharging the pins and leaving it for a few days it went away, and hasn't come back. Common parasitic charge issue with Stats and all). The pads were replaced a few months ago so they obviously have plenty of life left in them, but I'll also include the pads they came with in as the surface is still in great condition (but the foams are too weak now, which is why I replaced them. This is common with MK1 pads). The only thing not "stock" with these headphones is the headband arcs, which have been bent to fit my head better. They have more of a smooth arc more like the Audio Technica headphones now. But it's always recommended that you bend the headband to get a better fit and a proper seal with the 007's anyways, and you can always bend it back to its original state, so it's not anything you have to worry about.
It'll come with the travel case, which has some scuffs on the outside, as you'd expect any travel case to. But there are no glaring damages other than that, and the inner foam lining is still in great condition. I don't have the original outer box as it never came with it when I bought it here on Head-fi.
I'm looking for $1800 + shipping/fees for these headphones, which is the standard going price for the MK1's. They're in great shape so you'll get your money's worth. I'm in Toronto, Canada, and would GREATLY prefer a local deal or a Canadian deal so that my fellow Canadians won't have to pay an arm and a leg in Custom fees bringing it in from elsewhere. So Local/Canadian/US will be preferred in that very order (no international deals for now, sorry...)I may leave it up for upto a week to see if I get any local offers first.
Please PM me for inquiries. Thanks!
