For Sale:
[MelbourneQusp TWSPC cable with Oyaide right angled plug. (SM3x8 - sold)

Will Ship To: Anywhere

Hardly used them (<100h) - it pains me to let them go, but I need money for hip maintenance and moving house biggrin.gif

More pics in http://www.head-fi.org/g/a/691070/unique-melody-sm3x8-mk2-redux/ (not the cable there is not the one included, that one is a lot less luxurious)

SM3x8
8 driver Acrylic universal - same mold used for the public Merlin demo. Quite a few people tried them that I know, and at several meets and said they fit well.
Each ear is a 4 way xover 8 BA. 2x twfk: one super high/super high, one high/mid + The other two dual drivers are a lower mid and woofer. 4x crossover.
Opaque black faceplate with Machinae Supremacy band logo on them (give them a go, they're awesome)
Recessed sockets
Fits T400 or T500 series comply or silicon tips.
I'll include a fresh set of complys and silicon ones.

They're tuned somewhere between Miracle and Rooth LS8. Here's the FR chart. http://www.head-fi.org/g/i/683429/fr-chart-somewhere-between-miracle-and-ls8/sort/display_order/ Everything is amazing, but maybe treble could be more sparkly (eqs fine tho, or suits amps like JDS O2)

Cable:
qusp's TWSPC w Oyaide right angle. Normally about $220....
with heatshrink long memory wire. (haven't applied the fan trick to make them comply to my ears
Beautifully hand molded plugs to fit the recessed sockets, braiding, soft insulation, etc.
Jeremy's high end offering is a work of art. yours for $120 + shipping to wherever you are and 2% split paypal if applicable. (probably $10 padded bag registered post within australia and around $20 international)

I want it!
Cost me all about 1200 - $200 base SM3 + 750 upgrade + Qusp's 200+ cable + $50 standard UM cable (will be included, as will the UM luxury red storage case). Plus months of waiting.

If you're local you're welcome to come try before you buy (Melbourne - city or Montmorency). Absolute worst case, you'd need to reshell them with UM though.

Yours for $800 including shipping in Australia. Or 780 + whatever http://auspost.com.au/apps/international-parcel.html quotes you with whatever shipping or insurance options you want (1-1.25kg). Paypal 2% extra on top of all.

you could also buy the IEM alone for $660 including shipping in Australia

oh by the way, the original Merlin universal mold had helix locks of different sizes. That made them potentially uncomfortable (for some people I knew and shared my other UM reshells with that use the same mold).

UM have fixed it for me in this pair. So the helix locks are much more symmetrical between the ears.

Please note, my preference is probably to sell it to a local buyer because it's a high value item and locals have a chance to assess fit before buying:

I had 4 friends try them and they had no problems (for deep insertion IEMs with a full size shell and a helix lock they are comfortable and fit well and securely. This is by far my favourite universal mold from UM fit and comfort wise), and out of 10 or so people in the Sydney meet that tried all my different universal mold UM IEMS one had an odd ear canal shape that didn't fit, and one had a concha shape that made it uncomfortable. (I'd say that's pretty good considering normal IEMs frequently cause people all sorts of fit and comfort issues).
The things is - if you're in Sydney or in a few weeks in Melbourne - you can at least come and try them and judge the fit. If you buy them without trying, I want to make it very clear that you accept the risk of the small chance they won't fit and you might need to reshell or resell them. (this is really no different to other universals really). I don't want to put us in a situation where you paid import fees and suddenly want me to refund you shipping and those.

there's also an option of buying just the IEM and the standard cable (no fancy qusp silver cable).
That'd be $650 + shipping wherever (insurance at your discretion but a minimum of trackable post) + paypal if applicable.

In case prospective buyers are interested, I've tried these, and they sound excellent, especially in the bass, which is not only loud but also very well defined.

I didn't buy them because I couldn't get a good fit: I think they're just too big for my ears.

=) thanks Tumble. Just sold the IEMs, the Cable is still FS.

Hey, maybe you should sell the cable on the other FS forum so that more people looking for a cable notice it.
