I agree with the blather statement...although some of it is humorous. Definitely not entirely written by old men with beards. I usually read Bitran's posts as they usually guarantee a laugh. Here's an except from Bitran's review of some iems (great example of blather):
"Rodrigo delivered rock star poses, propping his right foot on his stage monitor and offering his pick in the air as a sacrifice to the guitar gods. His SG and gracious demeanor echoed of Santana. Unfortunately, during Rodrigo’s posturing, the four hits of acid I had taken only 30 minutes ago starting coming on way too strong, and Rodrigo’s head began zooming in and out of my line of vision while the thousands of light bulbs in the rear set-piece swirled together. All this time, the piercing oranges and purples of the dusk skyline mocked me: “Have you ever seen so many colors before?” I had to get the hell out of there."
I was actually at the Rodrigo y Gabrielle concert he's describing....still what this has to do with headphones I don't know. I guess you can only say so much about this piece of equipment or that piece and have to add some spice?
The magazine is around 50 years old - the new "writing style", etc. gets increasingly abstract, ("pop") there is so much blather (sometimes a full page) before getting to the grits of the piece of gear or topic.
