You tried both dakanao? Do you think buying both would be a smart move? The uptowns seem to really sound good and the headphone itself its beautiful and seems really well built. My main concern is the cable... It is just too flimsy and i am afraid it breaks easily (usually the majority of my headphones or in ear die with cable problems)....

I have been talking to marximus who had not only the srh440 and the uptowns but also the cal!'s and the v6, he says that if the shure were as confortable as the uptowns he would pick them any day because of the sound quality (but he is a guy who listens mainly to indie music). He says that for him comfort is the most important thing on his headphones and because of that the uptowns have remained several months as their primary headphone. He even said that in his opinion he prefers the Uptowns to the Cal!'s because he thinks they are more balanced.... I kind of agree with them in this... As i said a few posts back, i kind of expected a lot more from the cal's.....

By the way a very big thank you to  marximus who has been a absolute angel.... XD i bugged them like hell and he was always very cool and helpfull... :)

Yeah, I've tried both. While the 440 has more clarity, they are too analytical and dry, with almost no bass. The Uptowns are definitely way more fun. I don't know how much money you can spend, but if you can find the Shure 840 for cheap, they'll be the best. Really good clarity, better than both the 440 and Uptowns, great instrument separation, detail, perfect amount of bass for your genres, works great unamped.

I would get the both as i said by 80 euros if they were worth it but you know that less is always best... XD

I have been searching the sell/trade forums here on head fi and the 840's even used is impossible to get for less than 120 euros. There are some goods deals but usually they are from the us and in that case the import fees completely kill the good us deals.

In that case, just get both.

You think it is a good deal? :P

(You would get the uptowns right? XD )

Edit: I like my v6's but if this deal appeared before i got them i probably would have not got the v6s since i dropped 60 euros for the and from what i read the shure have basically the same sound sig and are not as grainy or harsh....only the srh440 new cost around 80 euros (in spain wich is the best price i saw so far and still you have too pay 5 euros for shipping).... i think this is actually a pretty good deal... but on other hand i already have toooooooo many headphones... XD

Yeah, it's a good deal. You just put on your 440's if you're in the mood for some clarity, and if you want fun + pretty good clarity overall, you just put on your Uptowns tongue.gif.

that's what i thought.... XD but again i thought.... What the hell am i going to do with the cal!'s or the v6's???? XD

One pair i am going to get for sure. :) I am finally selling my k518's this week so one of the pairs will work as a replacement for them (the uptown being the most natural choice as a portable use headphone).

I am also thinking of selling my k514 mkII since they get no use, but i have no box (trash can it went because it was completely ripped appart) so i dont know if i would get much money from them... :(

SUPER EDIT: I dont know if anyone's interested since i nver bought anything from them and i dont know to where they ship.... But on the portuguese redcoon website the ATH M50'S are at 99 Euros with free shipping...

Sold my k518's....

I was thinking of getting the m50s at 99 euros but many people told me they are more like a sidegrade to my v6's than an upgrade...

Really thought the m50's would be better dur to all the hype.... ;(

I think that for a clean objective sound the Akg 701 is a good buy.
