Cavalli Liquid Gold - Page 20

Yeah, the release cycle has been discussed a few times before.  the LL/LL2 is the only amp with an MKII that was a little short and differences were minimal, everything else has had a fairly normal schedule.  Its up to the customer to make buying decisions based on resale value.  Personally, I list that as a factor but buy what I think I'll like.

By the way MH just so you know, the LL had a good resale value - you are the 5th owner, and each time it was sold it sold a little less as people didn't want to flip.  To an untrained observer of FS listings, there are "all these LL's for sale so cheap" when in reality it is the same unit selling over and over.  LF seems to be supply and demand, there are a lot of LF's out there and the high-end market doesn't seem as busy as it once was.

Thanks for the heads up. But alas, I might hold on it for another week or two (when things finally slow down at work) as I'll likely just settle in with my KGSSHV. Hopefully the resale stays strong.  :o

My quest after I got my rig back up and running after our house renovations this summer was to finalize my e-stat headphone amp (solid state was a must) and upgrade my DAC. The latter is done now, and I think I've found what I was looking for in the KGSSHV.

The market will decide what the resale value is depending on the merits of the amp which has no doubt earned its due going by impressions and reviews and general sales.

The return on investment in my opinion is the hours you spend listening to the amp rather than spent worrying about how much you will get back when you sell it. Goes for any gear.

An analogy i will give you, My Fuji X-E1 camera cost me 1000$ and I bought it as soon as it was released back in december 2012. YOu can snag one up for less than 600$ brand new now. I have clicked over 15000 pictures since then and am I sad that the resale value has dropped in less than 9 months? hell no, cause the experiences i have lived through and the memories i have made because of it, the way it has changed my perception at looking at things, the friends i have made along the way cause of the love for photography that it has brought into my life is incalculable.

This is a hobby like any other hobby of passion that everyone is in for the joy of it, not at whether you will come out in the black or make a profit on.

Good going that you found your joy in the KGSSHV amp wise. Enjoy the tunes.

At the price you bought it for I doubt you'd lose much.  Quite a few people hold the amp in high esteem so you shouldn't have a hard time selling.

KGSSHV + 009 is definitely one of the better rigs I've heard (though I actually preferred the 007 with the HV.)  If mine had been more compact I would have kept it for work with a 4070 which it paired very nicely with.

Thanks! They (KGSSHV) are certainly very BIG amps and weigh a tonne. Sound great, but Team Overkill does follow the go big or go home model.

The LL can very easily fit on my rack, but the KGSSHV is on my desk top (and it barely fits)...but thankfully it just does. Might pick up a 007MK1 if I can find one down the road as well....we'll see.

I have just been informed that my LAu is ready to ship tomorrow. I have chosen FedEx so hopefully will receive it on Saturday/ or Monday at the latest.

What a pleasure it has been dealing with Alex and Chris at Cavalli......................Can't wait!!!

can't wait to hear your impressions with the hex. congrats on snatching that last one.

Thanks very much!

The typhoon delayed the arrival of the LAu to Hong Kong for a day. But it has landed and cleared customs tonight, so should be delivered tomorrow, very excited, especially since the Hex is pretty much on song now.

I have also added a pair of LCD3 over the weekend, to join my other headphones, and they should be arriving later this week...........................

Hopefully I can post some initial impressions in 24 hours' time.
