Also, what's the cheapest way to get earpad clips? Whole new pads?

Mod House Audio make 3D printed adapters for $15. I've ordered a pair myself. They haven't arrived yet so I can comment on the quality but it beats buying a whole new pair of pads just for the adapters.

Thanks! I will look into them, and if you could bump a short opinion on the adapters after arrival I'd be most appreciative.

Need some input. Does a chord mojo have enough juice to make full use of k712 potential? Or it can do better with additional amplifier? I just wanna use my headphones to their full potential. So far I had never been able to test it on other rigs. My best setup is AP60>mojo>k712. Just wondering if adding something like a Fiio A5 in between will make any difference or improvement to the sound signature

The full potential thing is a tricky concept.

Get an Auralic Taurus MKII and you'll still be wondering if you've reached the full potential or not.

Try to find a setup that matches your preferences, then enjoy music. That's often more useful than pursuing the full potential thing.

There's plenty of quality gear out there, at any price, and they all sound slightly different. What's full potential for person A is lacking for person B, and viceversa. You get what I mean.

Yeah I get what u mean. I understand it's all subjective and if I like it then it's all well and fine. But I just can't shake off that nagging feeling at back of head, cause of all the talk on how much more power is needed to drive them compared to other headphones of higher resistance...
Mojo can drive it loud, no issue on that. But I don't know if it's driving it well or not. My bro keeps telling me open back needs power to get the same 'oomph' factor. Unfortunately where I live there is no where in the next 400km that I can demo any audio equipment. All I have are online reviews and impressions

Hi friends,

I am looking for recording, monitoring, mixing, mastering and pleasure listening headphone.

I know this is a standing candidate but anyone here used these for the above purposes personally?

Can you please let me know your experiences with AKG K712?

Btw, I am looking to replace my ATH-M50.

Thank you!

Everything I've seen/read about the chord mojo suggests you will have no problems maximising the K712. They are not difficult to drive and I haven't seen anyone with anything bad to say about the mojo sonically.

I actually prefer the K712 with the Mojo's amplification than my Asgard 2.

I got modification done with my AKG K712:

I could not stand the bad separation from the left to the right. AKG used to take the electrical line via the headphone strap. Bad idea!

So i started to connect the left and right with an additional cable which comes right the way out from the XLR, look at the picture (hope u understand):

Now, there is no more bad separation between left and right. It sounds much much more focused and the soundstage has no hole anymore. The Headphone becomes more accurate and it sounds much more interesting and integrated.

Very interesting is the fact, that cables inside the headphones makes "sound". The usual cables are silver plated and i tried some copper ones. Sounds is much warmer and fuller. Maybe this is an important hint for people who wants to change the sound a little.

For me it is a nice chance to sound the sound :)

Later i will check out some solid core from Nordost for much more accuracy ever...so that AKG K812 must not be necessary :)

This is audiophile level over 9000, I hope I'm never going to reach that level.

..update: Cable-mod as shown is completely necessary. Holographic Soundstage. Micro rhythmics and much air between the instruments. Relaxed music action...better tonality. Cant understand why AKG did not fix this at production...!
