I know that. Well at some point a new reference will come for sure, but it will be nothing like what this community expects.

I see the sour grapes brigade is here.

There's good reason to be disappointed.

I mean, at some point (if not already) AKG is going to become quite the laughing stock. It's like the boy who cried wolf, at some point we won't even bother when they change the color a lil' bit and release the Q712 ANV and rebump the price back to $500.

The thing that originally turned me away from the K70x was the lack in the lower end. These might be more satisfactory. However, I already own a pair of He-400s and I'm afraid it'll be more of a side upgrade than an actual upgrade.

depending on the price this could be interesting, unless the only difference really is just the 3db bass bump

Exciting stuff.  The Mad Dogs will come first for me, though.

Yeah, this looks like a non-limited edition Anniversary equivalent... Has the Anniversary's flat headband at 'least (they finally gave up on the bumps, only took how long?), I guess the question is whether it has the same denser pads and what will it be priced at.

Odds are they phase the Anniversary away and just price this the same, heh. I'd hope not tho, 100% increase in price for a flat headband and better pads is kinda ridiculous, regardless of how much more people like the memory foam pads. If they come in at $350 or less then I'm intrigued.

I'm somewhere in between excited and sour-grapes brigade.

The K70x is a capable plate form that could benefit from more tuning and perfection.

On the other hand it's becoming the Honda Civic of headphones with only incremental changes being carried out over a plate form lifespan that's becoming way too long while the competition pulls further and further ahead with all new products :(

It's all about price IMO, there's plenty of competition above $350 but it's not like any of the big brands are falling over themselves to compete at under $300... Which is mostly the price point where the Q701 thrives, along w/Beyer's old DT line, etc.

$300 would be fine. €459 is not fine. There's not a single in production AKG product I would buy except the K550. Their price to value ratio is just a joke.

Really? Some folks think K70x beats HD800 etc. (and cost 5 - 10x less)...  tongue.gif

Some people also like the Beats. Everyone likes different things.

These people are few and far between.

Anyone seen information about release time?

Well, obviously their retail prices are a joke.

But... you can easily find K/Q70X's for less than $200 new. $150~$175 used. At those prices, they are quite the bargain.
