Schiit Modi or HRT Music Streamer II

Last night i ordered a Woo Audio WA6. So now the hunt goes in, to find a good DAC to go along. I've been looking at the Modi and the Music Streamer II. I want something relatively cheap, but it has to sound good with the WA6. Also it has to be available in Europe.

I used my Music Streamer + with my WA6 and now with my WA2 and I love it.  By all accounts the Music Streamer II is a better unit than the older Music Streamer +.

I just ordered the Schiit Modi, because I think it will fit me the best. I read in several places that the Modi is more smooth, and that the sound stage is better. Also the Modi is cheaper.

Good choice. I'm now using only the Modi and previously had the ODAC and HRT MSII.

ODAC and Modi are both quite similar. Most people probably couldn't tell them apart in a blind test.

In your experience the Modi is superior to the HRT MSII?

Yes, I think so but it depends on preferences perhaps. Some people might prefer the MSII.

I should point out that I never did an A/B comparison at the same time.

Larger soundstage, smoother sound and a little less warmth on the Modi.

The HRT MSII always sounded too warm to me but was kind of nice for the SRH-940 and Q701.

Main problem with the MSII was a small soundstage IMO. Maybe it was due to the warmer sound perhaps?

I went from HRT MSII > ODAC > Modi

Thanks for the info. Out of the 3 which has the edge on the bass extension? I was told Modi's bass is not that outstanding is that true?
