I'm getting the HE-400 as my main cans. But I want something closed and more portable too.

Preferences:

Good Punchy and Clear Bass
Good Lows Mids And Highs
Comfort, this is important.

I have all my preferred genres on my profile. (The ones I listen to the most are Alternative, Grunge, Metal, Hard Rock, Indie, Electronica, Hip Hop and Psychedelic/Experimental Rock).

(If you want you can suggest other headphones, but keep in mind my preferences.)

Cheers,

Hfi780 are more balanced, and the hd 25-1 ii are uncomfortable. So I think those two are out by your criteria.

I like the pro 900s and the m-100 are on their way to my house. I think the m-100s are a good combo of sound and portability. Though some say they aren't comfortable, but xl pads ate on their way so that may change.

I don't know much about the 840s though.

For me though it would be between m-100s and pro 900s. They both have comfort issues though depending in who you talk to though.

Btw you shouldn't bump so soon after posting

Ok so between the 900's and the M100's which ones are better for the money? I have small ears, so the M100 would fit fine.

I will recommend the Pro900 fo better bass response, crisp clear highs, wide soundstage and great midrange details. The other headphones like M100, Amperior, AKG onear with NC and Mikros 90 are pretty good sounding too.

The 900's can be amped with the PA2V2, right?

My only issue with the Amperior recc is that they look strikingly similar to the HD25-1 IIs, which means they have similar comfort issues. I haven't had the opportunity yet, but the clamping force on the HD25-1 IIs is strikingly high for an on ear.

I personally think that the Pro900s have an overall better sound, but the M100s have slightly better portability, at least I think so. And the build quality of the M100s is stellar, but the Pro900 is no slouch either in build.

As a balancing act between the two, I'd go with the M100s. If you want an overall better sound, I'd go with Pro900s. Granted it's been over a year since I last listened to the Pro900s. But that is my take. I recall the Pro900s having better overall mids and highs. The bass is great in both though. I don't think either will disappoint if that is what you want.
