Studying/Reading to Music - Page 2

When I study hardcore textbooks where I have to think a lot, work stuff out, sometimes read it aloud to try and remember/understand it, I like as much quiet as possible. Even a TV in the other room can be too much. Sometimes I'll just wear my sony noise cancelling in-ear buds to try and take some noise away.

I find with simpler stuff it's much easier as less thinking and concentration are required and noise isn't a big deal, but playing music means the work isn't requiring too much focus/brainpower in my opinion.

For me it's the opposite. When I'm studying I listen to music and get good grades. I think I remember the song and my sub-conscious remember what I studied when I was listening to that song or something.

Though intriguing, none of the aforementioned articles directly discuss the correlation between music and reading/studying, which is the topic at hand.

Here's a more applicable link: http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=music+while+studying&hl=en&as_sdt=0&as_vis=1&oi=scholart&sa=X&ei=nNJkUf7TKJLiqAH2iICoCg&ved=0CCgQgQMwAA

P.S. I'll need to look it over myself, whenever time permits.
