Even though these aren't in the best of shape, this is a fantastic price. Too bad I don't need them.

Hello,

Based on this thread:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/442102/fake-esw10-pictures-vs-real-56k-warning

I have determined that I am selling a fake pair of Audio Technica headphones.

Here's my analysis:

Based on that thread:

The plastic is flat back, no sparkles

the headband does not wrinkle

the metal band is a dull finish

the "leather" ear covers rotate very easily

the leather cup covers come off fairly easily (they don't fall off)

the stitching does not look correct

OTOH, the logos are centred properly

the cable is very flexible and their is a good amount of length between the cups and the cable join.

there appears to be no annoying bass resonance

they sound quite good!, but slightly worse than a pair of ESW9.

The wood colour... hard to say from a photo.

If I over expose the photo the wood grain is very easy to see

if I underexpose the photo then the wood looks very dark

If I look at the 'phones the wood is very dark

The 'phones did not come in a bag, they came in a very nice looking semi-soft case.

Regards,

Chris

I suspect that I may have a fake pair of Audio Technica headphones.

Therefore I am suspending this sale until I figure out whether the headphones are fake or real.

I have two fake pairs. I can help you determine if yours are anything like mine.

Check the color of the voice coils in the driver.
Audio Technica drivers always have blue in them.
Open the unit cups . You should see real yellowish fiberglass looking material in a dense cut circle tight behind the driver..

I don't see any blue, but the cups are real wood.

I'm closing this listing.

I don't think anyone wants to pay enough for these to make me not think I'm taking a bath, a thrashing and a beating!

I've heard rumours that fakes normally sell for approx. $60

I paid $285 for them................angry_face.gif
